Deadline day is traditionally more chaotic than other days in the window. You'll have scatter gun bids for players made by clubs desperate to fill gaps in their squads given it's their last opportunity to get someone in. They will have moved from a plan A signing to plan b with very little notice. We used to that ourselves. So I don't think it's always the case players where players are actively involved in negotiations leading up to deadline day.
Fair enough, I see your point however this year is a bit of an anomaly as normally deadline day doesn't fall on a match day, this season is different though so I wouldn't call it a farce, it's just down to scheduling.
