Just seen that Janssen rejected a late move to Brighton. Can't blame him. Spain window is open till tonight. Wonder if he will be loaned out to some Spanish club...

I'm surprised at that.

Silly boy. A starting berth in the PL would be ideal you'd think.

Unless he's not confident of doing his stuff in the PL. That's worrying.

The signings we made, make sense.

We've replaced Walker, hopefully with an upgrade in terms of end production. We've also signed Sanchez and Foyth who are supposed to be two of the most promising defenders available, with an eye on the future.

Llorente adds experience, and a clinical option off the bench. It reminds me a bit of a Davids or Naybet type deal.

BUT. But, but but.....

ITK said the Club wanted a winger and/or attacking midfielder. So it's not just pessimistic fans who will be disappointed this didn't happen.
It was mooted so much, that it is surely something Poch etc seriously wanted, and is therefore a strategic failure.
Poch said a month ago, that maybe one problem in the squad is complacency, as Eriksen and Dele have nobody competing with them for starting spots. Well, we still haven't addressed that. And we leave ourselves exposed to injuries or loss of form to either Eriksen or Dele.

The other strange thing is, we now have Janssen stuck as probably 3rd choice CF. He's basically ruled himself of meaningful football by turning down that loan move to Brighton. I imagine if the Llorente deal was able to have been done a few days ago, Vinny would have had time to realise a move for first team football would have been the best decision.

Overall, we've strengthened our defence, but given that Sissoko and Kev are not good enough, and Lamela's injury drags on we are badly vulnerable to anything that happens to our starting AMs.

Interesting that it was widely reported we went in for llorente for the first time on Wednesday afternoon. So apart from Aurier, whatever other deals we'd been working on all summer must've fallen apart at the last minute.

Not unhappy with the signings. Slightly unhappy about the missed opportunity. Unhappy with the fact we don't have an option when we need it.

Usually I'm very supportive. Finding it more difficult to be so at the moment. Maybe next season the thread needs a sponsor - Saxo?

Happy with our business in this window. Llorente is a shrewd signing that will bring experience, goals, and more options. Excited about Davinson Sanchez - looks like a major new talent that could potentially form part of a rock solid back three - and Aurier seems like a great replacement for Walker.

There will always be complaints about not improving other areas, but considering how great we were at scoring and defending last season I'd say that improving in those areas can only be a good thing.

There's also stability that comes with not making sweeping changes to the squad.

Thanks to the ITK for the insights into our intentions during the window, to the long suffering mods, to the posters on here that have made the threads so entertaining, and Hank.

Great point. A proven, quality squad with some added depth. I have no deisre for us to go back to the old days of wholesale changes every year

Main problem we've got is Christian and Dele need to play every game. If either get injured we're completely screwed, particularly Eriksen. Not buying any other option in that area is a ridiculous oversight.

Well done A&C and thank you to the ITK's for some tantalising nuggets which looked to be bang on for most links.

It's always good to see an excited meltdown in this place with some creatively vague criptics (y)

A big thanks to all the ITKS again this transfer window, you've kept us all busy on here! Thanks to the admins for putting up with endless crap and guessing games.

Thanks asides, I am happy with the window, we have strengthened our squad, and now we can rest easy until January when it all starts again ;)

They don't NEED to play every game. If we start playing 3-4-2-1 regularly then Lamela and Son are quality cover to come in

Need Lamela back asap. Hopefully he's not too far off.

Of course Vinny (or Mahrez or Coutinho) could still go to Spain on loan. For some inexplicable reason their window stays open for an extra day.

Am quite disappointed he didn't go to be honest. Not because I really want him out or anything, I actually want to see him feature a lot more for us but we now have another striker and even without another striker Poch was very reluctant to use him so I would have loved to have actually seen some of what this guy could do with a run of games in the Prem.

I really hope you are very wide of the mark with this comment because if you think we are completely screwed when Christian AND Dele are not both in the team, then this theory will be put to the most severest of tests in the opening 3 Champions League games.

Without Dele - I would like to go with 3-5-2 with Llorente & Kane up top or play Winks in CM with Dembele moved into the 3 in 4-2-3-1

Unlike previous transfer windows we all wake up today with a stronger and ultimately better squad. So how anyone can say it wasn't a successful window is beyond me.

Sanchez is a signing that's been majorly overlooked mainly because many of our press and pundits don't watch a lot of football outside of this country, but trust me he's one of the top 5 signings across Europe this summer.

I had personal reservations about Aurier, but I'm willing to give him the benefit of doubt for now. There's no doubt that he's a class right back and arguably he has the potential to be the best in the world. Luckily for him he's with a manager now who can help him reach that level.

Foyth, I don't know. The limited clips I've seen of him look very promising though.

With those 3 and the existing defence we now without question have the best all round defence in this country and I'd even argue the best in Europe.

People wanted pace. Well with Sanchez and Aurier we have that in abundance. I can't wait until Rose is fit also.

Llorente I think is a master stroke. At first I was surprised, but he makes total sense. He's got great feet, good hold up play, amazing in the air and he scores! Our strike force has suddenly gone from relying on one player to becoming very solid albeit slightly one dimensional.

We still have some weak links in Sissoko and the jury is out on N'Koudou and Janssen.

We would have all loved a Bernardo Silva or a Salah as I think we still lack a bit of creative depth and guile in the final third. Sessegnon and Sancho were two that I really wanted also. Having watched our opening games I can see why Poch may have wanted Gomes as I do think our midfield lacks a forward passer and controller from deeper positions, but we also have Winks so hopefully this will give him a chance to develop further. Remember we have Lamela coming back too who will seem like a new player.

The most important thing for me is we are now in a position to only need to buy maybe one, two or three players if we're greedy over the next two windows. The squad is the strongest in my lifetime certainly and is really stable.
