I'm happy with it overall but frustrated all the transferstook so long to happen again but understand why. Maybe next summer everyone shouldn't be throwing their toys out the pram when the same thing happens and we don't buy anyone till the last week of the window, it's what we normally do.

Shame we couldn't pull off a full reverse Willian with Barkley, hopefully we will get him in January but you know it won't be till the last week then as well.

I'm surprised at that.

Silly boy. A starting berth in the PL would be ideal you'd think.

Unless he's not confident of doing his stuff in the PL. That's worrying.
And it's only down the road really, he'd only be about 45 mins from London, not like we're trying to send him to the depths of Hull or somewhere awful like that, almost guaranteed a starting spot, I cannot see him getting many minutes with us with Nando signing.
Odd decision really.

In Poch we trust! You are moaning about what subs are going to be used which is a tad premature...

It's not a complaint about Poch! They clearly aren't players he trusts so we needed to provide him with some that he can.

Like others, I'm happy with the signings we made, but think we needed more.

Maybe I'm too ambitious but I wanted us to aim for the league title and I don't think our attacking options are strong enough for this. Especially if we also want to be competitive in the CL. Don't want to stink that out again.

Think we're just desperately lacking someone that can go past players with the ball in the final 3rd. So when we can't pass through teams we at least have someone that can open them up with a dribble and shot/cross. I guess that's why I'd like to see Edwards given a chance as we haven't bought anyone that can do what he can.

On the plus side at least we can now play 3421 more often, and even 3412 with Kane and Llorente up top. And dropping Alli or Eriksen into the midfield 2. Could be useful to do that against busca parkers at Wembley.

Not much to add on what has already been said in that it could have been a bit better window with more incomings in respect of options further up the field but equally it could have been a lot worse, there have been some very useful additions there is no doubt about that, and at this stage I know it's early days but initial assessments seem to be that we've fared better than many.

I know we will never truly know and it's academic now, and for certain reasons at least one of these signings couldn't have arrived earlier than now for specific legal reasons but it would be interesting to know whether we would have gained more than 4 points from the first 3 games we've played so far with the options we have now. Let's hope it doesn't prove to be crucial in the league placings when it's all done and dusted in May 2018 if we come up short by 1- 5 points

Its been some crazy days..But best time of the year. Thank you so so very much to everyone here! I feel tired after yesterday! SC on one computer, working on another, TV on with DD special on (even had to have s*x my girl in a break too). I feel we missed out on 1 or 2 signings, but I think we did pretty good anyway. I just love Spurs :love::love:

And as promised yesterday (as @Archibald&Crooks would remember..lol), but another donation chucked in.

Would have liked to get Barkley, think he'll grow massively with us. He seems really motivated on coming here as well which is good so hopefully we'll go back for him in jan.

All in all a good window. As always, shame it took so long to sort out

My take is that we got in some good players but we also missed a bit of an opportunity. I don't think we had a "bad" window overall but I would be lying if I didn't admit to being slightly frustrated in the end.

The RB situation was just bad luck all round and I sympathise with the club not knowing if they should stick or twist. Let's hope we can get him in jan.

So yesterday was our busiest day ever on here, by quite some margin. Apart from a few small hiccups around 11pm the site ran fine all day and that's down to you all donating so just wanted to let everyone know how appreciated it is and how important your donations are in allowing the site to be able to do this.

Thanks!

Unlike previous transfer windows we all wake up today with a stronger and ultimately better squad. So how anyone can say it wasn't a successful window is beyond me.

Sanchez is a signing that's been majorly overlooked mainly because many of our press and pundits don't watch a lot of football outside of this country, but trust me he's one of the top 5 signings across Europe this summer.

I had personal reservations about Aurier, but I'm willing to give him the benefit of doubt for now. There's no doubt that he's a class right back and arguably he has the potential to be the best in the world. Luckily for him he's with a manager now who can help him reach that level.

Foyth, I don't know. The limited clips I've seen of him look very promising though.

With those 3 and the existing defence we now without question have the best all round defence in this country and I'd even argue the best in Europe.

People wanted pace. Well with Sanchez and Aurier we have that in abundance. I can't wait until Rose is fit also.

Llorente I think is a master stroke. At first I was surprised, but he makes total sense. He's got great feet, good hold up play, amazing in the air and he scores! Our strike force has suddenly gone from relying on one player to becoming very solid albeit slightly one dimensional.

We still have some weak links in Sissoko and the jury is out on N'Koudou and Janssen.

We would have all loved a Bernardo Silva or a Salah as I think we still lack a bit of creative depth and guile in the final third. Sessegnon and Sancho were two that I really wanted also. Having watched our opening games I can see why Poch may have wanted Gomes as I do think our midfield lacks a forward passer and controller from deeper positions, but we also have Winks so hopefully this will give him a chance to develop further. Remember we have Lamela coming back too who will seem like a new player.

The most important thing for me is we are now in a position to only need to buy maybe one, two or three players if we're greedy over the next two windows. The squad is the strongest in my lifetime certainly and is really stable.

Great synopsis (y)

The primary purpose of the window (for me) was to keep the core of the team together, there were lots of rumours but other than Walker we've done so.

We are now in a position whereby the positions we need to strengthen are the really expensive ones - the bums off seats ones and so it will always be a struggle.

Overall, however I am pleased with the business we did and hope we go back for Sessegnon and Barkley in January.

Really excited about Sanchez and Aurier and I like the Llorente signing a lot. If we even got Barkley (or a similar signing) in, then I would have been perfectly satisfied. A game changer, whether an established one or an actual ready to play prospect, would have been nice, but I expect Kane, Alli, Eriksen and Son to continue to improve and I think that we will see some more of that kind of thing out of all of them this season. A solid rotation option and injury cover would have helped, but if it means more playing time for Winks and Edwards (assuming he's ready), then it probably won't be so bad.

In the absence of that quality wide player we were looking at binging in, I can definitely see us playing more of a 3421 formation and in that regard I'm happy. Aurier and Sanchez will allow that to happen, though Rose can't get back from injury quick enough. I like Davies, but Rose and Aurier provide the pace and power we'll need to deal with the better teams like Liverpool.
Additionally, Poch really values ball playing CBs, so Foyth is also an exciting prospect.

I was crying out for pace yesterday evening, but on reflection one of the things we've learnt about Poch is that he always seems to find ways of getting the best out of what he's got in front of him, generally speaking. With that in mind, the inclusion of Aurier and Llorente, both of whom have won medals and have big game experience, are master strokes. Gomis would have been useful but Winks is now able to gain more vital experience that'll bode well for us.

We have the best defensive line in the league, two colossal CDMs in Waynama and Dier, one great CM and one emerging CM who looks completely at home in a top four team. When Lamela returns, our AM options will receive a much needed boost; his versatility could be key in our success this season.

Sissoko remains an enigma, while GKN needs to show his potential. While I've felt he's done little over the last 12 months, there's been nothing to suggest Poch is actually unhappy with him and playing at Wembley with that extra space might suit his skill set.

I would imagine Kane is delighted with Llorente. He brings experience and technique, but also game intelligence and power. His threat in the air will also be welcomed.

Lastly, and this is most telling in terms of the current footballing landscape, I feel very intrigued by the fact that players are now taking note of our potential. Foyth allegedly rejected PSG to come and work with Poch. Llorente chose us over Chelsea, and it seems Barkley did so too, albeit in more convoluted circumstances; I'd be surprised if we didn't sign him in January. Chelsea were also apparently sniffing around Aurier- yet we also secured him and for less than half the money we sold Walker to City for. And in amongst all this, we somehow managed to sign one of the best young centre backs on the planet in Sanchez: Poch's delight and disbelief at this achievement was visibly palpable in a recent press conference. While Liverpool have been effective and City and Utd continue to spend silly money, it's the state of Arsenal which is so fascinating. They couldn't keep Oxlade-Chamberlain (who also rejected Chelsea), and are left with Sanchez and Ozil running down their contracts. Sanchez in particular will be furious and that antipathy will only enhance the toxicity around the club. Factor in the fact that Lemar rejected a 90 million pound bid, and suddenly they become a cautionary tale of hubris.

I normally post quick, facetious bollocks but I feel we're in a very good place and I'm proud of our club.

A huge thanks to all those who run this site; it's an incredible monolith to the love and commitment we all feel towards our club. Without Spurs Community, my days would be less fun. And a special thanks to @Archibald&Crooks, a brutally funny individual with the patience of sickly saint

Great post. I don't really think Sanchez is a player of abundance pace, though. I'm not holding that against him at all, I just think some are exaggerating this aspect of his game. He has, I believe, more or less the same pace as Vertonghen/Alderweireld. If he is even a bit quicker, that would be great, but we truly shouldn't expect him to be a phenomenal sprinter.

We've had more than one window to address this problem.

That's my problem.
Sure but who should we address the problem with?

Who was out there and gettable that we didn't get? Genuinely interested.
