Never know how the 'plans' statement is supposed to be indicative of anything in particular...it's just meant to be vacuous isn't it?

Completely agree. Really it seems to mean, "our plan is to sell him, but if we can't sell him (because nobody will pay the fee we want), we have no choice but to re-incorporate him back into the team". So there are two plans in mind.

Doubt he'd give that answer to the same question about Lennon or Adebayor.

SB isnt good enough to be dicking us around in my opinion, if he waiting for a better club id sooner move on.

I think you will find that it is his club holding on not SB:

hertyid on SB wanting to join us: Yes it's WBA hoping for a higher bid from one of the Mancs.

Edit: saw Lilbaz's post later stating SB's agents comments in the SB thread.

Chadli scored 11 goals playing from ALM last season, that's more than Berahino if you take his penalties off. Eriksen got 10 and maybe Lamela could improve on his 2 and I'm damn sure Pritchard can chip in with goals. And as you say, Ade and Soldado were so insipid that even if we played Coltihurst or Harrison they couldn't give us less.

No need to panic, at worse we'll be on par with last year's 5th finishing group.

Why do people say this? A goal is a goal. Taking penalties, as any pro will tell you is a skill in itself. You can argue its a one off, unchallenged kick from 12 yards but so were some of Kanes last season, and does that make a tap in any less of an achievement? A striker scores a tap in and its "goalscoring instinct" but having the ability and nerve to take a penalty and its "just a penalty". Its a ridiculous argument against a player.

What about taking off Eriksens free-kicks?

Sorry for going off topic but ive seen this so many times when talking about Berahino and its nonsense.

Not the same, IMHO. :)

I think the point is, someone has to win the penalty for him to put it away. And if we already have a good penalty taker, those are NOT additional goals... it's different than being in the right place when needed during open play.

You'd have to do the math of how many penalties we expect to miss and see if having him take them would boost the haul...

Unless of course he wins the pen, but I think that's counted as an assist, no?

You can't count penalties when talking about a player we might sign because Kane is our penalty taker, so Berahino by default wouldnt be scoring them for us

He's betterr than Townsend, can play left right or upfront and has a good understanding with Kane. I don't care about penalties.

Anyway shouldn't this all be in the BErahino thread?

If you are bothering to keep count you'll know it hasn't even been 24 hours yet. If I was you though I wouldn't bother. No good will come of it.

Well my world started the next 24hrs.... Oh well, finger crossed Di Maria to PSG and Rabiot to Spurs.:)

So nothing happened in the first 24hr?
Our managing director at work went around the company a few weeks back to give all the staff a talk. His closing statement was "Forget all other rules and just work to a single basic rule over the next few years. That rule can be most elegantly expressed as 'don't be a dick'."

Sometimes I think a few in this thread could do with following that one rule.

Berahino won a bunch of penalties though, so there's obvious value in that.

Also...I hate to say it but Kane isn't really that great of a Pen taker.

Maybe we're holding on to the cash to allow us to bid for Bale?
