I thought it was something to do with a Protestant playing for Celtic last season but can't think who.

Thing is mate you dont know that either what poch may or may not decide to do, however i dont think he will walk but im sure he will want his players in to be given the best possible chance of success.

What I do know is that virtually no manager walks because of a window ( and not a single one of ours in the 16 years of the Levy tenure as walked for that reason).I can only name 2 in the last decade in O Neil and Bruce and both were at clubs that were badly run that didn't spend or had to sell in the case of Villa. Every manager wants the players that can enable them to achieve success, virtually none of them get all of what they want. Anyway this isn't the thread for this topic.

ITKs have said - if we move players on, we will get the signings in. Hoping this is true. I want the Nkoudou & 3rd GK done today, to leave some optimism for a 3rd signing. I am convinced we won't get Isco. But a proper AM who can make the difference will do...

Hoping, @JJetset spills some ITK beans today...

Returning to the topic of ITK...........We've not had one of the staples of transfer windows past given to us yet so ladies and gentlemen, without further preamble, I give you................ "Levy wants his Klinsmann signing"

That's the very real danger IMO. A massive two days coming up, I think Levy might have played the game his way once too often. Not everyone will put up with it and Poch was very clear about wanting his players in early. So unless things go our way over the next 48 or whatever hours I honestly think we could be looking for a new manager next season, if not sooner.

The question is whether Poch was promised anything during his contract negotiations. He was asked whether he extracted transfer related concessions from Levy before signing an extension and he said he didn't. At the time, I actually thought, if true, that was a big mistake on his part. In a rare turning of the tables, he was in a position to actually have massive leverage over Levy (there's no way Levy could afford the PR fallout from pissing off Poch and having him leave), and I actually thought he'd have been better off not signing any type of extension until after the summer window to show Levy that he wanted to be backed to a reasonable degree before committing.

In a way, it's pretty honorable from Poch to have not extracted anything from Levy outside of a personal pay rise. I don't think it's in his own personal long term interest (football is fickle), but the guy is someone to be proud of at the helm of the club. Unfortunately, he's seemingly not getting anywhere near the resources he needs to meet the expectations of the fanbase in a very difficult league.

That's lovely, sir, but what of yesterday's cryptic? I kid you not, I woke up after dreaming of swimming in a rancid pool of decaying dahlias while being pursued by storm troopers who all looked like Levy when they removed their helmets. They accused me of illegally hoarding Nacer Chadli.
My psyche is not healthy at the moment

Actually, there is one manager who does walk because of transfer windows. His name is Marcelo Bielsa, Poch's mentor. He's done it twice in the last two seasons. Once at Marseille and once at Lazio. Both because he felt like the hierarchy misled/failed him on transfer targets.

No, he didn't. He got one. The clearout he wanted only really began this week. But as you say, probably not for here.

Tbf though a lot of those players were told ages ago they would be getting very little game time with us. It's only now that poch is selecting youth team players ahead of them, that they have finally accepted it.
