Gazza wasn't a lazy bastard earning £100k a week! You can't compare Gazza and Adebayor! Gazza was a genius Adebayor is far from that! I admit on his day Ade is unbeatable but he had 5 days last season that's not good enough. If we can have Ade from his first season then great keep him but I think his time in England is up and he needs to move abroad

I'm just saying so far he's done enough to deserve another crack.

Even on a bad day Defoe is likely to chip in with a goal, on a bad day for Ade you'd be lucky if he got out of bed and turned up for the match...but this isn't for here and now.

The ITK is sounding exciting and we've Paulinho done and dusted, is this the window we get shit done for a change? I'm feeling quite optimistic at present. Soldado is a good player, but I'm not 100% about him adapting well to the EPL and being able to play the role I think we'll expect of him. Striker next please!

Don't rain on my parade Daniel you ****!

Ade's only broke the 20 mark once in his career mate.

And Defoe twice.......

I think Ade offers a little more in addition in terms of team and movement. Won't derail this any further. :stop:

The point is Defoe is more of a threat than Ade, you can argue that Ade fits the mythical system better, but that didn't seem to apply when JD was tearing it up start of the season and when Ade looks a shadow of the player we had on loan. Ade's previous form for this, I'd cash in on him, but then again we all know how seemingly rubbish we are at signing strikers.

If Villa is coming in, then JD may probably be the better option to go. Ideally I'd like them both replaced by the way, but I sincerely doubt that will happen as per our previous.

If Ade isn't scoring he still provides a target, movement and generally more to the side. If the reason for playing Defoe over him is that he is likely to score more goals, than it is reasonable to think that it should be bore out in the stats but it is not. The reason AVB used Ade over Defoe, and the ITK are suggesting Defoe is the one we are willing to let go is that, unless he is willing to be an impact sub (and don't get me wrong, I think he is a good impact player), Defoe offers so little on the pitch as a starter it is worrying.

If the ITK is correct and we can bring in Villa he will be a great signing as his movement, awareness and goal scoring ability is on a different level to Defoe. However, we will still be left needing Ade as sometimes you need to play a target man, who can tire out a defence, there are few better than Ade at doing that, especially in our price range.

cost us £5m IIRC
Yes but I believe we had to pay him a considerable amount up front in wages or some other agreement in the name of going towards his charity. Not saying it didn't, but the overall fee to get Ade was more than the 5m to City.

Ideally if you were selling Ade you would want around 10m.

This isn't true. It should be and I wish it was more, but it simply isn't true.

Ade has hardly tired out a defence since he signed permanently and arrived unfit for purpose.

Villa's going to be our man from the left hand side, Bale probably from the right and Ade will be up top unless we really blow our beans and buy a top striker, but I can't see that.

However rumours (only on other boards thus far) of a bid for Soldado this morning.

That's how I see it playing out too.
Ade whilst not the most natural of finishers, does (when motivated) have a knack of bringing others into play. Bale proved to be at his list dangerous cutting in from the right onto his stronger foot, similarly to how Villa cuts in from wide left onto his right. So playing a three pronged attack where the flanks drive infield, you want a striker who is going to create the space for them, not one who will squeeze them out by occupying the same space.

Soldado is more of a threat than Ade & Defoe.

It'd be insanely good if we got him.

For all the ITK and press conferences we haven't actually signed anyone... Cannot wait for the flood gates to open!!
