People on here have forgotten how good we were last season
Maybe there is something to it, but have we also forgotten the lightweight way we performed in the first 4 and last 4 matches (which in total is more than 20% of the PL season), or the devastating way we ended the Europe League campaign? Or the relatively speaking low number of players Pochettino truly trusted?

No one's forgotten, but there seems to be real fear of trying to recruit better players. Reading constantly about back ups or players coming in to cover for injuries.

We need to remember that we are not the finished article by a long way which means that the squad still has room to grow, not to mention that spending money doesn't always guarantee success and if we bloat out the squad anymore you run the risk of players missing out on important game time and eventually getting fed up and wanting to move. Our squad is big enough as it is

With all this talk of buying this player who will make a difference who we can realistically get/afford who will walk into our first team not one of you has put forward a name yet...Maybe because there isn't actually anyone out there who would do that that fits the criteria.

I could but this isn't a wish list thread. I was responding to apparent links to Insigne and Boufal.

Surely there are people related to the club who are paid to do exactly that? Constantly some posters tell other posters that they can't think they have anything to teach Levy et Co, but now all of the sudden you are suggesting the right thing is to assume more knowledge than full time scouting employees? Which is the correct balance for a SC user, who is simply a fan?

Exactly, by all accounts we now have a vey good scouting system in place who are more than able to scour the market based on or wants and needs and as far as I know I really can't see any legitimate links with such players which means that the management are more than happy with what we have in place right now which kinda suggests that we aren't in desperate need of anyone that you so wish for.

Buddy, come on. Not in here! :(

It's not gonna be too long before none of us have an ITK thread to access if this carries on :(

I think you are bypassing (knowingly) a few key caveats to that statement in order to reach the conclusion you so wish for. Which is fine, we all do it sometimes.

I see your point but I think (and that's just my opinion) that we could have been better if we had adequate cover for Dembele and Ali. We could have won the league and at worst finished second.

Nothing wrong in wanting more but a lot wrong in making any kind of signings just because the other teams around us are.

I feel Poch is good at finding the balance needed, so let's just hope he has the backing from Levy and fans alike

We weren't lightweight at all in the first 4. In fact we really could have won any of them. Not getting the result is not equal to performing poorly.

And don't give me the crap that it was because we didn't have the player personnel or any nonsense. All teams from Barca to Bayern get those kinds of results.

hertyid in janssen thread, not sure if hes confirming its done or if hes responding based on the recent stories: Can't complain. Two holes in the team filled before pre-season.
Well done Poch and Levy.

Welp. Let the Levy circle jerk commence then!

Oh and good news if this signing rumor is actually legit this time.

Surely as we are not in a position financially to improve a very strong young first XI with any sure fire starters, surely any signing we make has to be a squad improvement.

The key is to get squad improvements that round out our options but also have scope to either improve further (like Payet at WH) or push our current stars to push on even further.

'Why don't we buy players to improve the first XI' doesn't really wash sadly when they only guarantees cost fees and wages we can't get near. Any player that in your opinion MAY be better than what we've got in time are no different to the Boufal and Pjaca links.

As with every season everyone gets a little bit jealous and puts too much stock in transfers, we have a good young squad and a good manager, and for once, they all seem to be staying together...

Gotta hope this is Janssen done. If so, great! Get him in that dubious Dynasty shirt (check out the shoulder pads) tomorrow and let's see if Levy can put a VdV out of the hat. I'd be happy with striker and DM in for the window plus see who comes up from the kiddies over the summer.

I'm sure if it does one of the usuals with a stiffy for taking stuff too seriously will be along to tell us all how they are fed up with it and its boring.

Actually no, they almost certainly wont. Strange that isn't it?.............
