Sorry...4-5 could go? You are kidding right? We have a paper thin squad as it is.
If we brought in a Striker and an AM, we could easily let go of Fazio, Yedlin, Carroll, Chadli and Mason and still have a good size squad.

A good sized squad? You are talking about getting rid of three key MF players Carroll, Chadli and Mason. Who have we got left to cover for injuries?

On the left side you have Eriksen and who is his back up? N'jie? The guy has not played a handful of games and is coming back from a serious injury. Son is a right sided wide forward so wont play there. Pritchard is right sided as well and is a crock coming back form yet another long term injury and is completely untested in the PL.

In central MF you have who exactly? Dier, Dembele (cant play for the first 6 games), Alli and who else? So the back up is Benteleb and Onomah? The first one is also coming back after injury and playing bugger all last season when fit, because Poch could not trust him. The latter is a soon to be 19 year old who is wet behind the ears.

Verts is out for 4-6 week with ankle ligaments which take time to heal particularly at 29. So who covers him? Wimmer? Then who covers Wimmer? Maybe CCV an 18 year old who has never played PL in his life or to that standard? We are looking great in defence. And before you say Dier and Wanyama can cover well that takes key players out of the pivot role.

It goes on and on FFS!

I wish people like you would not post complete BS throw away lines like 'let 4-5 go'. It does my head in because it is blatantly clear we cannot let 4-5 go.

Having a 'big' squad in your terminology dude, means nothing. Its the players you have, their specific roles and the cover you need for those players that matter. I for one look at our squad and worry because a couple of key injuries could kill us.

We have a CL campaign plus grueling PL and Cup games. Where is the depth in the squad?

Perhaps in defense and MF but not strikers...there is a dearth of good strikers worldwide that is why Ighalo is 38m and Troy Deeney 25m etc. Crazy stupid prices yes, but plausible in the circumstances.

Neither of whom would be marquee signings.
If they are the prices for them we will not get a marquee striker.

What? If Jansen scores 20 goals he will be worth 50 mill. If we thought he was going to do that he would our player by now

No. We were talking about signing a marquee player. I'm saying i would rather buy someone like alli than splash massive amounts on wages and a transfer on a player that might not work out.

Basically i would rather we spend less on a lesser known player that is just as good as a big name player.

4-5 could go!

now that fills moi with a lot of confidence...and who replaces them pray tell? Is Poch building a group of bionic men that can run all day and never get injured? :D

So we expect 4-5 in as well or nuffing?

Or a mixture or 3 or so in and some youngsters promoted into the first team squad ? Got to make space for the youngsters so that can get game time.

Small point , but I notice that in the BBC report re Batman's Chelski transfer that they mention 3 clubs who were beaten to the signing...and we weren't one .

Unnecessary condescending post there

Your post is incredibly over dramatic.

Yedlin Fazio and Prichard didn't even play last season, Bentaleb and Njie, Onomah, played a very limited amount, Chadli and Vorm were very much bit part players as well ffs. We have already added wanyama and are after Two more just to my knowledge. Between the three incomings and those three-four that survive we will be just fine. That's not to mention anyone promoted from the youth set up.

Calm down FFS, what a complete over reaction.

Firstly, I didn't use a "throw away line" or say "let 4-5 go", I names 5 players that IMO we could afford to let go if we brought in an AM and a striker.

Also, I didn't say big squad, I said good size squad.

I think you need to go and get laid, get some of that fustration out of your system.

That's mental, who wouldn't want to spend less on a player that's just as good?? The problem is there isn't a load of Ali's out there. You can take a chance a few times and some come off. I don't believe for a second Spurs thought he would be this good. It's not our money also, who cares what the figures are. We need the best players we can get, and the best chance of them not being duds

Wanyama signing alone has improved us hugely as a squad. We not only get a player who Poch worked with but also, Alderwierld. Plus, he has played in Champions league before and was instrumental in Celtic causing upset over Barcelona. He joins us because he wants to play for us. And he is only 25 with a good resale value.

Exactly this. And it's also why I hope jansenn (or however you spell it lol) signs for us. He's turning down teams and being vocal over his desire to join us. These are the signings I like to see and seems like the sort poch seems to like. Young hungry and wants to be part of our team. No mercenarys or journeymen anymore.

I certainly agree. I personally would like to add a little bit of experience though. What you need when you have important games at end of season. We can't just keep buying 21 year olds ect. I'm not sure how vocal Wanyama is?
