Unfortunately due to a change in circumstances I wont be on SC very often. However £50 donation made for the best Spurs Website! Keep up the good work. (y)

Breezer's been found out. Levy is locking him up in the executive bathroom :bigtears:

I'm making the point that we had a bad season, and apart from Hugo and Christian, there is absolutely no need to point fingers at individual players and call them "shit" and "the worst _____ i've ever seen at the club".

It's venomous and totally unnecessary. I'm glad you've had a season ticket for that long, but it doesn't mean your opinion is valued any more than any other spurs fan, nobody should have "the right" to criticise players. Thats not a dig mate, its just fact, were all spurs fans.

I'm just angry because i COULD understand the anger about last season, because it was bad. But essentially we've started a clean slate, and yet some people still want to persist with criticising players just for the sake of criticising them.

And i bet you they'll be the same people who moan at the board and the players and say its all their fault if our season goes tits up.

And those people who (including me sometimes) are entitled to do so. I do agree that to call a player "shit" is hardly constructive, but if i am to understand your thought process let me ask you this.

Do you think Sherwood's record deserved the ferocious personal attacks that were made on here? If you think he did then your post holds little credibility. Are those "fans" that derided him personally included in your criticism?

Finally my loyalty to the Club over the years does not entitle me to any more or less of an opinion then any other fan, but i do feel that anyone's opinion should be voiced with honesty and not sugar coated so long as it's not racist, sexist, or a clear case of defamation.

(the sexist bit i leave A&C out of)..................:sorry:

What you say makes sense. Maybe he will look at how Bale came on by moving to a better club but within it still being able to develop. Go to Manu or Chelsea and he will be expected to hit the ground running. However I doubt he will see it this way

I doubt we will or should pay the fees being quoted either. We are not a club who can pay £27m for a left back

Still not entirely sold on Lovren. He was decent last year, but nothing too special, and that was the best season of his career to date. Lovren is still young and I think we could do with a bit more experience at the back, considering we might lose Kaboul through injury, and Dawson isn't good enough.

Not convinced by him at all and not the type of defender we should be going for imo

Shaw would pay back 50% of his fee in marketing and merchandising revenue alone. Not to mention he fills the single biggest hole on the team.

Sometimes its worth overpaying to fill a need, or if there are other considerations.

He'd be worth every penny of the £25m it'll take to get him.

A new contract typically means that you keep the player for a year. I know that is raining on everybody's parade, but it's only meant to be realistic yet hopeful. It doesn't mean that Lloris is off next year, mind you....he might stay for a long time (and my gut is that he will). But the new contract typically means you are safe to assume a player will stay for the next year only

And that's just the reality for clubs below that uber-rich level. Hopefully it means he'll be with us a long time. But with commodities that are sought, like Modric and Bale, the contract kept them for a year but allowed us leverage when they threw their tantrums to leave.

Now the first person to quote me will have all kinds of examples that counter this both for the player staying and the player leaving. But I don't mean for my post to indicate this is concrete. It's just a rule of thumb.

So good news. But don't get too comfortable. As always with us, the Champions League is our security against top players leaving more than contracts. However, keeping him is pretty important if we are going to make it back.

The exception tends to be when you give a new contract to a player you want to offload and for whom you also want to get as much money as possible. We did this with Kelly in 2006.

What i mean by journeyman just to clarify is someone who has been around for years and hasn't done anything special, Lallana had an amazing season but the Lallana of the previous years Saints would have bitten our hand off if we had offered 6-8m imho

Think you're thinking of the wrong word pal in that case.

Schneiderlin would replace Dembele - he's more a deep sitting ballplayer.

Wanyama played in the Sandro role next to Schneiderlin.

Schneiderlin and Lovren are the two I really want from Soton.

Absolutely! I would take Morgan for either Moose or Paulinho. Such a tidy player and has great positional and tackling skills.
