I really think it's going to be hard to find a quality experienced striker who would come to us to be stand in for a handful of games next season.

Even experienced strikers are a gamble (Torres, Soldado, etc etc) especially when they are just going to get games in fits and starts.

Chaldi effectively plays as a wide striker anyway, and he's experienced in this league, he has the attributes, I'd happily take him as striker back up.

Agreed we are unlikely to find an experienced striker - but maybe there is one towards the end of their career who might.

As we have no young strikers likely to come through after Kane for a few years - except a faint possibility that Coulthirst might come good, I'd advocate filling that 'hole' in the production line with a 19/20/21 year old striker - so I'm hopeful that the Anthony Martial link shows that Poch, Mitchell and co are thinking along similar lines.

Its a hole in the squad we need to fill - and atm with Chadli, Eriksen, Pritchard, Townsend and Lamela (5 for 3 positions) we are short (or at least over well endowed) in that area too, so a striker/WF would re-infoce both areas,

If Ade or Soldado go we need another striker, no doubt about it.

If that player can play as a wide forward too , that's a bonus. But I'd prefer we still ship out Townsend and replace him with a new wide attacker.

think im in the minority in choosing to spunk on martial over scheiderlin. we wont sign expensively in both positions. i dont want someone like lorente or lambert ha coming in on a fat wage, it dont make sense. sign a dual role player like martial, who also represents an investment.

we wont get fourth, on enics business model, so lets build it slowly allowing the kids scope to improve. watch alli turn into our very own schnei would be hugely gratifying.

I agree. If we had 30m to spend on those positions, I think we could get Martial (18-20m) and possibly Geis (10m) but I can't think of a striker that would be as useful for 5m.

Prices are based on media reports.

You want to spunk on a 19 year old boy?

I'm concerned no-one's expressed an opinion on whether we should have 4 or 5 centre backs wrt TA.

What do the other teams do? Come on, someone must be up for a discussion?!

Seriously though, if he's not one we've 'identified', and are only considering because he's been offered, then I'd be reluctant to do anything to impact the budget for those we have identified. Even if it meant Fazio out, can't see that being cost neutral.
