He's so fun to watch, too. Probably one of the most legitimately unpredictable (in a good way) players around. People call me crazy for saying it but his dribbling reminds me of Ronaldo. So quick, decisive and he just makes defenders look like shit. His ceiling may only ever be what Bale was in 2011/12, but for me that's good enough when you have a striker like Soldado up top. Such a fun player and I'd love to have him here. And, as you said, with the price it'd likely to take to get him here, it's a great idea and could prove to be an incredibly savvy buy.

Cheers Snarf, love your input. You have the uncanny knack of getting me excited about any player you talk about.

Perhaps you could individually talk up our whole team, just before the season starts and even if we completely fuck this window up I might go into it with some optimism.

Yarmolenko is quick and tricky, but with him and Dzagoev, I do worry about the Russian/Ukranian mentality, not many have come to Europe and shined...

2/3 years ago people said this about Brasilians. Only takes a few to buck the trend and they become the best thing since sliced bread.

1. I dont understand why no one in the world has the balls to just comes out and say fuck you rmad. Fuck off. Kinda wish putin owns a team just to see him fuck rmad up

2. We are in control of the situation. We can reject if we want. I much rather we keep bale, get 1 more, gun for the title

3. If i was soldado, i wouldnt move if i see bale is on the verge of being sold

4. If we are really planning to sell bale, i rather we fucking all out rob their ass. Coentrao + morata + 90m, or nothing

5. Spend 30-40 from the pot to get suarez, lamela, or whoever to fill bale's shoe.

Yeah, I never ever thought the nationality thing was a real case for not signing a player. If you're convinced by the talent and done the scouting, you've got to go with what you evaluate in terms of talent, not where they are from. I think it's an awful thing to pigeon-hole a player and write them off because of their nationality. Dzagoev and Yarmolenko are plenty good enough.

Which madman said that not many Brazilians shined in Europe 2/3 years ago?? Are you being serious?

I'm glad you mentioned him as I sort of forgot about him. I mentioned this awhile back about him when talking about alternatives to Hulk:

Not to get too off-topic, but I was looking at Dynamo's squad to see if they had depth at his position, and I don't think I hard before heard or known that Belhanda transferred to them.

Not really, Brazilians have been succeeding in Europe for a while, just not England. Russia and the ex-Soviet states are still like a different world compared to the strides Brazil have made culturally. I do take your point though. Just feels a bit of a risk to me.

The last I heard he backed out. I know they signed Lens and Mbokani. They apparently announced Belhanda, Lens and Mbokani together at a match (There's pictures, too) and then afterward Belhanda backed out as he did not sign his contract yet.

So, I just looked it up and it appears it was reported everywhere he backed out then he came out a couple days later and said it wasn't true and then it was official on July 3rd I guess. I must have missed it as I was distracted that week ('murica!).

Question: Is Levy actually on holiday? There were reports saying he came back early due to this Bale issue and others saying he did not.

If Morata is part of the deal, I think it looks ok.

We can go for Sanchez and Lamela with Bale money..... Boom, a Champions League squad

I'm all about getting Morata in the deal. If we could get Coentrao that'd be great, too but I think Morata would be a fantastic addition. He played out wide some for Madrid so he's got versatility to his game which can help him get valuable match minutes for us. And, if we bring in Lamela, I have no doubt we can still challenge for 4th, if not better.

Doubt Sanchez would be interested in us. If he's squeezed out of Barca would want a CL regular team.

Thing is, even if we were to line-up in the opening weeks of the season:
Lloris
Walker Dawson Vertonghen Coentrao
Sandro Dembele
Paulinho
Lamela Soldado Chadli
Looks great on paper, but we're talking about an entrely new attacking set of players, it takes time for a squad to gel, to learn each other's games, etc etc. There is still a massive risk we'll drop points early on.

Presuming that (i) we can actually get them to come and (ii), they settle into a completely different team/style of league/country with virtually no pre-season.
This is what worries me about large scale change, prior all this Bale nonsense I was really optimistic that we only needed a couple of quality additions and some deadwood out to look the real deal - relative stability and proven strength/experience in place. Now it looks like we're going for significant upheaval and all the uncertainties that it entails.
Fuck Real Madrid and Bale's agent!

This gets me, it's like on American Jerry Springer style shows, where the wife finds out the guy is cheating on her with another girl, she goes bitch crazy on the other woman, instead of the guy doing the two-timing. It's Bale and no-one else who's decided he doesn't want to play for Tottenham Hotspur anymore.

Why not? AVB groomed a 100M super star in one fucking season..... he could be the next.:D

You dont need champions league to be a star as long as you play for AVB

Well, at least the start to our season isn't absolutely dreadful. Swansea will be tough, but hopefully the quality of the players in the squad will be enough to overcome what might still be an acclimatization period.

Agreed but aside from Bale our attack was hardly blistering last year!

Sorry - but I disagree. It's not only Bale. The agent is just as culpable - he stands to earn an absolute killing out of the deal. Do you really think he's just going to sit there and not do anything while Bale hatches this evil plot.... bollocks. The agent will have been in his ear and will have been a part (not all) of this, no question IMO. It takes two to tango and <insert other cliches here>.
