I just can't see how Dempsey fits in with a dynamic AVB 4-3-3.
He can play in any of the front 3 spots. And in a 4-2-3-1 can play any of the front 4 spots. He is a RW/Striker who has experience playing "in the hole" as well. He scores goals wherever you put him. Not the most flashy signing but solid business for £6mil who scored 20+ last season.

Kept at present. Don't we have a 25-man squad at the moment? Maybe we have a deal to send him to Fulham pending Moutinho going through if all this talk about Levy being at the Lodge trying to sort it out is true.

I can't find these rumours anywhere. I'm sure Levy is at home, counting money in his sleep. :)

I will be dreaming of a debut goal by Dembélé tomorrow. Thank fuck this is all over. Good night!

Are we still in with a shout of Mouts? or is it just more twitter wumming?

No rumours on twitter anymore either from what I can see. I would be very surprised if there's anything but talk of how we failed to sign him tomorrow. :)

If we were late by 4 mins, surely they would let a 30m euro deal go through?
I've been reading SC for years great site and well done to all involved!!

This is my first post. Two things Rafa IMO was physically on his way out which I think we have all noticed for sometime (and dared not really say it) and with AVB who is building for the future needs a 90mins person not 60 (also in that 60mins he looks knackered at times). I get he is a class act at times but we have to move on and build - we have bought some great players and I am sure Moussa will be a class act he run riot over Manure last week!! Yes something has gone wrong with the Mouts transfer and we definitely need someone like him. I pray something is going on in the background and it will be announced shortly otherwise we will have to wait for January which also will give AVB more time to see state of play but think we have bought well and we cna now kick on and challenge for top 4. ONLY TIME WILL TELL!! COYS!!

Wasn't that what Gylfi was for?
Exactly and they have pretty similar stats when you consider that we were Gylfi played half a season and had to settle at a new club
The only logic in the deal is we brought him so that we have a back up for Ade until january, then we could sell defoe and try and sign a striker, he is a typical Levy stop gap signing and the 3 year contract proves that imo

just got up for work and having turned on my laptop i want to go back to bed ,if as it seems we havent signed moutinho it cannot be overstated just what a monumental f**k up that really is ,he was the one who would make everything else work,he would have made an enormous difference to our team,so the sum total of our efforts (or levys) on deadline day ,having moved on a heap of players is a keeper, who although good we could have managed without if necessary and clint dempsey? i have been supporting spurs for 35 years now and this is as bad as i have ever felt ,it will surely cost us top 4 ,but at least we made a profit eh?,stupid ,f**king stupid!

Given that we agreed a deal and that allegedly the fine details were eventually ironed out, only for us to miss out by a matter of minutes, you'd think that we could work out some sort of pre agreement for Moutinho to come on January 1st wouldn't you?

Never that simple though is it? It's just not our way! Will go to January 31st as always and in all likelihood we will yet again fail to sign him. Expecting the same of Leandro of course. That one's traditional.

Never that simple though is it? Far too simple. Will go to January 31st as always and in all likelihood we will yet again fail to sign him. Expecting the same of Leandro of course. That was already a given.

Leandro is going to be 90 years old on his death bed and we'll still be trying to sign him

Well you can sign players outside windows o_O, I am not shitting you, it is true, Man United do it a lot unless dealing with a north london club

This is why I hate modern transfers. The fact that a non-signing can make you feel as bad as you've ever felt in 35 years of being a spurs fan is pretty amazing. So looking forward to just getting back to the football and watching our team play.

Ok, vdv - a legend!

BUT he is suffering from a bad hamstring and is 30 (Soon to be?)

We got 10 mill for him and got a player scoring more goals in --> dempsey!

Lovely business! And I love vdv...

Comparing Dempsey's price to VDV's does give me much happiness considering we ended up making a 10 million+ profit this window. Not to mention the fact VDV is a much better player (and I like Dempsey).

It wasn't VDV or Dempsey. We could have easily had both, or Dempsey + a rafa replacement.

No way it's done. If so, we'd have been doing our best at the deadline to leak it to the press so it looked like we'd got it done just in time

Why announce it hours after the deadline, it makes no sense.

3.08am, what the fuck am I doing up.

I am from Hong Kong and it's noon here now.
