We'll beat them with or without Bale

Watching how just a little bit of physicality from Negredo did them in was refreshing considering what we have to offer. So long as we have Vertonghen back by then, I'm pretty confident surprisingly.

He does not have to do anything. If he signs a new contract, it weakens his position. Sure, financially, it might mean a few 10 thousands for one more year but if he is intending on making the move, would be pretty stupid to sign anything. Just my onions!
Well he can (and would) make sure there's a clause in there allowing him to move, we make sure the clause is set at a realistic acceptable amount.

He gets a big pay rise which he deserves, Barnett gets a payoff which the slippery **** thinks he deserves. We get another year of his sublime skills, and RM get to buy him for what he's worth next year. Everyone's a winner

I personally think Newcastle could use a player like Parker. Tiote is such a dumb footballer and even if Parker doesn't have the physical attributes of Chieck, I could see him becoming a leader in that side that apart from Krul (Maybe Taylor?) appears to be lacking in that department. Parker, Cabaye and Sissoko is a good blend of talents.

I'm a bit meh with all the Bale stuff now. If he stays, can the fans show the same amount of affection that they have done previously knowing he's off next year? Will the fans buy any Bale merchandise knowing he's off next year? I doubt i'll be buying my boy anything knowing that he'll be off. I would love it if he stayed but I've sort of resigned myself to not be overly worried if he goes.

If Bale stays the first time he scores all will be forgotten. The Modric scenario was far worse (He openly requested a move to Chelsea FFS), and everybody still cheered him in his final season. Football fans are fickle.

If RM can't afford them this year, what makes you think they can afford him on a new contract and a year or two of extension on top of the humongous wages we give them??
I mean honestly everyone wins from our perspective. But knowing how Levy will not give in to 1 quid less than what he demands I doubt RM will come back in at all!

Sure, I would not mind that one bit. But, I was just trying to think of it from Bale's perspective.

  • He wants to leave, for RM specifically.
  • We will not sell to MU at any cost.
  • We could sell him to other money bags, if Bale is interested. (Highly unlikely)
  • If he signs a contract, weakens his position for he would command a far higher fee than quoted this TW; unless he wants to really play for Spurs (which would contradict the first point.)

IMO, he won't sign a new contract or an extension. But hey, I would be more than glad to be proved wrong!!

So in the process of elimination we have gone from him going to either Wet Spam or QPR, to him potentially going to any one of about 11 clubs.

Outstanding work lads.

Going back to the Goats ITK re: Joe Lewis, does anyone else think he's got caught up in the AVB love that many of us succumbed to?

-Got sick of Harry and felt burned by him.

-Picked up a manager who had clear potential but was seen as damaged goods.

-AVB was unveiled and said all the right things. Had an air of class and dignity about him. Something HR lacked towards the end of his reign.

-Start getting really defensive on his behalf when the world and his wife wanted to continue kicking him when he's down.

-Desperate to see him succeed to shut up the press and make Chelsea look like mugs.

-That win at Old Trafford and those goal celebrations seal the deal

-From then on a couple of manager of the month awards, the transformation of Bale and a record PL points haul complete the road to redemption.

Those were the stages I went through and I think JL did too, after all it has been suggested he was the one who gave HR the chop. Maybe this exciting young team and manager really lit a fire in JL and the decision was made back in Barbados that we are going big this summer? I really hope so!

Disclaimer: I fully appreciated what HR achieved for us and he seems like a nice guy to know in person but I'd be lying to say I liked how he disrespected our club in the press and would never accept blame publicly for his mistakes. Not to forget the collapses.

I don't think Parker speaks French though, that could be a problem.

All the brightest heads on sc worked together to find out where parker is headed. A few hours later we narrowed it down to 36 or so clubs.

Just on Scotty P IIRC he's doing his badges with us, I actually wouldn't mind him staying i think we're a bit thin on leaders and i think he's good for the younger and youth players.

Is he on big wages?
