McCarthy, Beharino and Werner.

I think that's the best we can realistically hope for. I'd certainly be delighted with that.

I would be good with that as well. I'm not sure I'm feeling as excited as some of the ITK with that group but obviously the targets may have changed since those original bits of ITK.

still reckon the wheelbarrow day where he supposedly went after llorente, aguero, etc was one of the best transfer deadline days ever. great times even though ultimately we ended up with nowt.

Who else was on the list, Rossi? I remember people thinking we would sign 2 epic strikers. Was fun whilst it lasted. Every 5 minutes there was another link to another Spain based forward.

Quite shocked to read this from WST.

Since he arrived at Spurs Lodge on May 27th, the manager has seen the departure of 18 players including Michael Dawson, Kyle Naughton, Benji Stambouli, Paulinho, Sandro, Younes Kaboul and Lewis Holtby. Notably, none of the departures could be seen as key first team players and three were bought in the flush of the Gareth Bale transfer money. Stambouli had only been at the club 10 months.

Just goes to show how much work the management in general have done to shape the side and future direction of the club.

I know we've had many contract extensions (and in turn, pay raises), but with all the players that have left, paired with the limited number of players that have come in since Poch took over, I'm surprised wages are such an issue right now.

It's worth noting that McCarthy is still just 24 years old. He's already an excellent premiership performer but there's room for him to grow as a player and develop under Pochettino who really does have a talent when it comes to players fulfilling their potential - for example none of the players who left Southampton last season were able to match the form they showed playing under Poch.

For these reasons I'm very much for McCarthy!

We all know that Pochs system requires that certain player , MS is gone and McCarthy fits the bill as second choice with prem experience. Going into the season without the lynchpin of the team is foolhardy. Either back Pochs tactics levy or there was no point in bringing him in . DM , LWF and ST required like yesterday,

Honestly, even with Schneiderlin and Martial still available, if you'd have told me at the beginning of the summer that those three would be our outcome for their respective positions, I'd still have been delighted.

i can't believe we would let many more go if we hadn't got players lined up to come in, i know ade and carroll didnt really play a part last season but still think we leaving ourselves short and we were fairly lucky with injuries last season.
5 out 5 in so far for the first team squad

I can't see the Bolassie rumour paying off. Possible smokescreen to spook Berahino into making a request? Lessen the pressure on negotiations...

I know Austin was semi ruled out, but in all honesty, if we got CM - McCarthy, WF/CF - Berahino and CF -Austin, I'd be fairly happy with our summer business, I'd see us as genuinely stronger, better balanced, and with those 3 being PL experienced, I feel the settling in period wouldn't be too bad. (Plus, Lennon could be included in the Everton deal and Frederiks in the QPR deal to reduce the cash outlay).

I think I would even be genuinely pleased if we forged ahead with only adding McCarthy and Berahino from here out. Ideally I'd like another winger addition, but I'd be content, and for all the reasons you cite.

That's probably £50mill give or take. Can't see that.More likely one of Mccarthy and Berihino and a cheaper option for whichever postion wasn't filled.
Werner not sure about with Berihino we do need some experience as well.
