Tom Carroll to Watford (loan) doing the rounds where I am.

Anyone else heard that? I would be suprised if we loaned him out with out more coming in cause Parker looks off as does Livermore.

As much as I would love to believe the "Uncle Joe" ITK, I won't be holding my breath until the window slams shut and we have kept Bale and have a net spend of 60m plus. You have to look at Levy and Lewis' history, they are not frivolous spenders on emotion, they are shrewd business men, and while there is an argument that now is the time to spend with the impending FFP and so much fresh managerial meat in the PL, in pure business terms, it is a huge risk, because we could spend £200m, but a few injuries, bad luck at key times, and our perennial shocking inability defend set pieces rising its head again, and we could still finish 5th.

As, I say, would love it to be true, but time will tell. Some you have to be prepared to be sitting here on Sep 3rd, seeing Bale gone and our net spend being pretty much zero, and having let Jim Whyte and SSN sucker you into another day infront of the telly.

Lol no mate. I fucked up, NOT TWITTER, facebook. The guy who made/founded it is a supposed Spurs supporter and, I think, has been linked with some sort of deal with our club in the past. .

sorry people, I'm a part time smackhead & confused twitter with facebook. I'll just shut up & stick to reading.
Zuckerberg? We'll end up having a blue pitch covered with Facebook ads.

I don't wanna be 'the one' that says this but... what if ghostfarmer is the only one to be telling the truth and the others are all being told the same cos the club don't want it known..?

I'm not saying that's what I think, or what - of course - I want. But one voice standing against all others?

Isn't that a bit like where we were before the influx of info; JJ saying he's probably going, and all else pointing in the other direction?

That 'Billy White' fella on COYS also hinted that all wasn't well regarding Bale with a ' :( ' post (which happened to be his penultimate contribution on that forum before closing his account).

I see the daily fail are reporting Hull City have agreed a fee of £5.25m for Hudd. Not sure if this belongs in here but I didn't mention the other day Hudd is off. Although I also said to Sunderland or Stoke. Things change.

Absolutely not.

What's the point of selling a homegrown youth talent who made the step up last year, showed he's good enough for the Premier League, is a Spurs fan, is absolutely desperate to play for the club, is English and can play in several positions, in order to get a very average foreign bloke who will cost more in wages and has no connection with the club or the fans, in order make a bit of money which will only end up marginally improving another position?

Why lose all those positives in the pursuit of a bit of cash? We're not talking a Bale £80m profit which could revolutionise the squad here.

Townsend represents the future of the club, along with Carroll. It's not Football Manager, it's not about saving a few million here to spend it there (those fucking In £78m - Out £56m lists people stick in their sigs every window), it's about building a squad and a club for the future, and if our own English youngsters, who have (most importantly) already shown they have the talent to make it for us, are good enough but get sold in order to make a quick buck, then we're doing something seriously wrong and no longer operating like a 'proper', responsible football club, IMOnion.

Also, this comes back to the Caulker thing. English players are overvalued. We will get lots of money for selling our talented young English players. But in order for that to work you have to replace them with equivalent or better, cheaper foreign players. I don't want to sell all our English players, though. I don't want us to become Arsenal and have games where we don't have a single English player in the squad - I have no respect for clubs like that. United have shown that with faith in their ability and good coaching, English players can be an important and successful part of a title-winning squad in this country. That's what I want.

Personally Bobbins, I couldn't give a fuck what nationality our players are. If finishing in the top 4 every single year and playing great means being like Arsenal, bring that on asap.

Why do you care what nationality our players are ? Surely all that matters is the ability of those that play for us ?

True enough, but that's why £26m on a 28yr old Soldado was so uncharacteristic

Thought this was of interest as it seems to correlate with Jasper's ITK

Cinderellaman on SO re ENIC's previous Club.

Well following on from Sean's interesting comment on ENIC's previous sporting role, I wandered around the net a bit to check out Slavia Prague - and from what I can see they did the same as they did with us, bought a team in trouble, with a great history a long way detached from any success. They then invested in it, and turned it in to a two-time league winning, multiple CL qualifying (stage) team and sold on their investment. They bought in the fallow time of the 97 (after the previous owner Korbel sold off basically the entire '95 league winning team) and achieved 3 czech cup wins before two back-to-back titles in 08 and 09. It took 11 years for them to invest 'heavily' in the team and cement them as champions and qualify for the financially lucrative CL proper spot, and built the Eden stadium before selling on... You see any familiar signs here?

The new stadium was built in 08, 11 years after taking over. The league wins 08 and 09, 11 and 12 years after taking over. We announce a new stadium share issue 8 years after ENIC take control, and by 11 years in they've taken sole control and delisted.

I actually think ENIC have got form for this, looking at Slavia Prague, the final stages of their 'investment' being the completion of the new stadium. What's 100m invested now in the playing assets against a 5-10 year plan to 'get out' on max potential of a genuine title challenging team? As you say there's naming rights, there's massive global marketing money to be reaped... etc.
Hmmm
