So basically if we fail to do a deal with West Brom for Berahino we'll go for Dembele at Fulham....

Sounds feasible.
I wouldn't be against the window panning out with either of those. Think either would give us that little bit more depth than we currently have.
Both young enough to be moulded into Pochettino's ethos.

Only my opinion, but I could see both tbh. Wouldn't hurt to leave Dembele at Fulham for the rest of the season either if we had SB coming in now.

Now that would be a good shout. I like the idea of allowing Dembele to stay at Fulham for the rest of the season so he's playing regularly and his development doesn't stagnate.

Just put this in the Towsend thread by mistake, so will C&P it here

Another smallish update...........

Big Sam really wants to take Andros, and has lodged the most solid interest for him so far although others are sniffing. Told re the Striker situation... We know we are in need of a striker now but it is important we feel whoever we bring in January can hit the ground running, that means someone with experience of English football Dembele is being looked at.

Oh and Berahino is definitely still target if a deal can be worked out, MP does still want him!

Would take either than none

So, as far as importance to getting a suitable CF cover for Harry, Salford University's Sports Analytics Machine has worked out that without Harry for the rest of the season, we'd get 12 fewer points.

Although, there are lies, damn lies and statistics, this does suggest we shouldn't be happy with the status quo.

Well if that really is the case, both Levy and Peace need to put their dick measuring to one side and make this deal happen for the sake of everybody concerned.

Back the manager Levy.

Odd. Considering Poch's personal experience is of Son and Dier coming straight from abroad absolutely nailing it from the start, while Davies, Vorm and Trippier have taken the longest to settle.

I believe we have more sophisticated mentality and physicality algorithms now, and don't worry about crude Redknappism like that anymore.

To be fair we met the asking price last time, admittedly after we tried to get him at a lesser price. When you are talking about millions of pounds of other peoples money "just paying the asking price" is not a clever way to do business.

Having watched Albion numerous times this season, I have serious concerns about how much Berahino could contribute this season. Berahino was speculated to be starting today against Stoke, so for those who think he's still a great option for us, make sure to watch that game.

I also don't like the idea of us making him our big striker signing, when we could qualify for Champions League and attract someone much better in the summer. If we buy Berahino, does that mean no Embolo or Batshuayi in the summer? Because I think someone like Batshuayi is a better player and fit for us in both the short and long term.

The Dembele who's played about 12 games in English football? Does that qualify as experience in English football then?

It's a very good point actually. Our options could be huge in the summer, for a player really to complete with Kane and to take our time to get him. We need a back up in the horrible scenario Kane gets injured in next 4 months. He may not. What to do eh.
