I believe he is much better than his time at Chelsea suggests. If the ITK is correct then I would be happy. Very few managers aren't a gamble in one way or another.
This 'AVB was a disaster at Cheatski' myth has already been put to bed. They were 2 points worse off than us after we went on our barnstorming run and all the while he was battling being undermined by Fat Fwank and his cronies.

Personally, I find this possibility quite exciting. I won't claim that AVB would be my first choice, nearer third, but far from underwhelming as he'd certainly make any short list of mine.

I remember Slaven Bilic saying Luka is already at a massive club back in April. Could it be the deal to bring him in as manager was already done.? Maybe clutching at straws but i found it strange at the time...

After 13 games they were 6 points worse off. It depends where you put the cut-off.

Was he a disaster? Not in the Ramos sense. I do, though, think that he contributed to his own downfall by attempting to impose a system that paid little or no regard to the abilities (or brains) of the players he had. That doesn't write him off for me, but it does raise a pretty big question-mark, as does his lack of experience.

He does lack experience and he was pretty arrogant in his approach to the Chelsea situation. As much as I dislike many of their players I did get the sense he was beating the team around the head with a blunt object at times. I think he underestimated the leverage the players had and the lack of faith the Russian mafioso would have in him.

However we're very different from Chelsea. I never understood the AVB/Chelsea combination as the players and style just didn't fit. We do. Plus IF he's been offered the job I suspect Levy will have assured him he'll back him all the way.

Perhaps most importantly is the desire for redemption. If AVB gets the job he'll have a huge amount to prove. Consecutive failures in the premiership could severely damage a promising managerial career, and I'm sure he'd put everything he has into doing well for us - including learning from his time at Chelsea. Perhaps I'm just being naive but we seem to have a decent bunch of characters at the club.

In short I think he'd enjoy working with our squad more than he did at Chelsea, and in turn the squad would enjoy working with him more as well. He's ambitious, he's smart, and he's got a will to win that I admire.

Of course by the time I actually post this I suspect the ITK has switched to Martinez, or Benitez, or Zed from Police Academy.

I won't disagree on the question mark SS57, but I do feel that what happened at Cheatski was a massive learning experience for AVB and should make him a better manager for it.

Please people no matter the manager we get (AVB??) a few bad results and we are a laughing stock. That's how its going down. Levy made the call for the right reasons in his opinion. Was is correct? Do I agree? Do you agree? Point is the media darling has gone. Now get ready for a rough ride.

I agree with this. It says a lot about managing personalities, which is the primary responsibility of the manager. Now, in his defense, apparently Clough had those problems at Leeds, which seems the most applicable situation. Will he be able to redeem himself at a club like Tottenham? Only time will tell.
