Benteke can't play for a possession side. End of story.

He'll go back to mid-table and Andy Carroll or Kenwyne Jones away the rest of his career.

After seeing the power of Watfords attack and how it made mincemeat of Liverpool yesterday i think Benteke\Kane would be a good partnership. I Dont know if he is what we want though. Can he fit our system? probably not.

After seeing the power of Watford's attack and how it made mincemeat of Liverpool yesterday, I think Ighalo would be the man.

Would certainly be nice. Looks like Watford are signing Iturbe from Roma, so there is a possibility of them letting someone go.

not sure if itk or opinion
dragon1 on ftl: Dros and Fazio will go and that will pay for a new striker pretty much
Think we are getting the ex scum striker from wolves

Strange change of tack - going from Benteke a good class international striker who is said to have cost Liverpool £30m odd to Afobe an ex -Arsenal youth prospect who they sold to Wolves in January 2015 for apparently £2m (although rumoured Norwich are offering £12m).

Totally opposite ends of the spectrum

Benteke - just cannot see Liverpool selling at a big discount, and no way is he better than Kane, so he will be the alternate. And its clear we didn't want to spend that amount when he was leaving Aston Villa. He doesn't seem to want to press so we'd need to play on a totally different way when he plays. Just cannot see us paying big sums for someone who doesn't really fit what we want - likelihood is we'll want to shift him within 12 months. And I don't believe Poch can coach him into pressing as its something which requires huge athletic prowess.

Afobe's a strange one - been out on loan a fair bit but other than at MK Dons (where he may have overlapped with a young Alli) in League 1 where he scored a credible 10 goals in 22 games he didn't do well and Wenger never gave him a first team debut. Done well at Wolves with 19 goals in 32 matches, but most interesting thing to me is that he's starting to play as a no 10,,,,,so maybe he's got some of the versatility (maybe not as WF though) and ability to drop back to find the ball that Kane excels in. Think he's pretty raw, really not that much more experience than say Alex Pritchard has, but not that you'd want to pay more than £12m for and use him as Kane's alternate. Big question is whether he's good enough to play if Kane gets injured - and IMO think it would be a huge step up for him. So worth keeping on the list but think there should be better options

Maybe we're finally taking the championship seriously in terms of finding new talent. A move which personally makes me very happy. A lot of this seasons top performers were there very recently (Mahrez, Vardy, Dann etc) with our very own Dele Alli coming from even further down the leagues.

Benteke was offered to us - no ITK that we are interested in Benteke.

Agreed. We often talk on here about how other clubs seem to be able to unearth these gems for a fraction of the price we end up getting quoted a season or so of success later. Mahrez and Bolasie are just two players we've been linked with in recent times, who other clubs have scouted and signed. Jamie Vardy is proof enough that there is talent further down the leagues that can step up. Alli has indeed made a rapid transition from League 1 midfielder to Premier League and international midfielder with us. What's to say the likes of Dembele at Fulham or Afobe at Wolves couldn't be next. The club have gone to great extent to overhaul the scouting setup, time to have a little faith that they are looking beyond the usual suspects.

I'm guessing Klopp sees about 30mill he can invest in other players that he wants to buy, assuming that's his valuation from their end. He's still only 25 so he is an asset they may want to cash in.

Cant really think of any logical reason why they want to ditch him.

Afobe actually excites me. He's the kind of prospect we were all clamoring for in the summer. A bit out of the blue, but obviously there is something to his game.

I still have never seen anything from Benteke that indicates that he can play at the top.
