"Unsurprisingly, the interest in HK from both Man Utd and Chelsea is 100% legit and strong."

then

"So far there has been no direct contact from either club with Spurs, or with HK's agent."

Wut?

Indirect contact from said clubs putting feelers out? Fwiw, I think it's bollocks too.

Good, don't want berahino - waste of good money.
Kane - doubt if his head'll turn.
As it stands Chelsea are in disarray and Man U are hardly the attractive team to play for anymore. Im with you here, Kanes head won't turn for those 2 teams as we are a more attractive place to be atm.

Only business I could see us doing would be Townsend out berahino in at around the same price. 0 net spend again???

They can throw lots of money at him and double his wages etc. but he's got a good head on his shoulders and will see the big picture imo.

Might see his agent try and leverage the interest to bump up his wages or bonuses though.

That's my biggest concern with all our players, until we can compete on wages we are always going to be at risk of them being tempted by one of the richer clubs. Like you say Harry seems to have a good head and to be happy here but if the likes of Chelsea offer him 100k a week more than we can then it is going to tempt anybody.

Pochettinho; team spirit; new stadium, bond with players he's come through with.

I think those things will keep him here.

I genuinely think the players are desperate to create the level of success that the clubs who will temp them in the window have, here.

If someone comes in for the right price he will be gone. The only thing in our favour will be that levy will make that price so high that there will be cheaper alternatives.

Well put it this way, that someone will have to break the world record transfer fee to get him, unlike Bale Kane doesn't have a desire to play for anyone else so the odds are all in our favour.

I certainly hope so! Ryan Mason did an interview in the standard last week saying similar and that he hoped the bond between the squad would stop anyone wanting to leave, I just worry that an extra £5m year on top of what we could pay is going to be very tempting for anyone.

With Harry Kane, I think he might realise that if he goes to Utd (for example) he will just be another player whereas if he does something here he will be an absolute never forgotten legend.

Our wage bill is actually relatively very low now. In the last year we've cut our senior squad from about 38 players to 26. We've also got rid of all our big earners (save Lloris and Verts) and brought through a lot of lower-earning young players

Basically we've got a lot of wiggle room now within our '55% of turnover' structure to make a counteroffer if need be.

It was already negligence and a sackable offense when we didnt sign another striker in the summer.
I agree the summer was poor, but I've never understood this idea of January strengthening to kick off.

What teams do that and have been work out to have that player be a big contributor? I can't think of many. Seems like a very false idea spouted by the press that has no proper backing in actual results.

I expect a backup striker and that's it.

Papiss cisse was signed in january, scored a goal a game for the rest of the season including a wonder goal against chelsea, then forgot how to play football... that was a funny one. Torres and Carroll deals were january as well. Strikers signed in january are almost definitely cursed.

Son and Njie say hi.

It's so funny people want Berahino still, when we have very similar players who are either considerably better (Son) or higher potential (Njie)

Shiny new toys…

Hahahahahahahhahahahahah. Are you kidding? Was this a serious post? Son and N'Jie are fucking AM's, and N'Jie looks far from ready for alot of game action in any competition.

We only have 1 striker.

No one is asking for or expecting anyone to come in and start immediately or improve the starting xi. But we are righfully asking for another striker as we should not be playing Kane in every fucking non league game as he needs rest also. And sometime he needs to cone off in league play. We cant do any of that when there is no viable replacement besides Coulthrist and Harrison
