Welcome back, everyone!

Toby leaving was seemingly fait accompli, so best case was always him ending up outside of the PL. This works for me.

I wonder if the Ajax supports absolutely hate us and our special relationship

£11 for eriksen is daylight robbery, they should've called the police

Well if it's Barca fair enough he did a great job for us. Of course we need good money which we can re-invest in a younger player and De Light seems like a great player to go for.

Well fingers crossed for this outcome...De Ligt is easier to pronounce too so I'm triple happy if it pans out this way...

Will be sad to see Toby go but I think its been inevitable for a while now...

De Ligt would be a major coup, when I told a Newcastle buddy of our interest he laugh at me saying we haven’t got a chance, I've been holding onto that text for a while, I’d love to cram down his throat

As long as Vertonghen is here with his experience and calm play then adding De Ligt seems smart. Footballing CB, young enough to take direction from JV but already had plenty of experience in the game. Also appears to have born leadership qualties based on what I posed in the Summer Transfer wishlist thead.

Sanchez will also be a year older and more experienced as a prem CB and will therefore only be better. Overall the picture at CB would be fine with me.

Full backs though?.....possibly time to make some changes there on both sides.

Hopefully he does go to Barca if he must leave.

That being said, I think both Spanish giants will be missing a huge trick if he goes to another English team or if they don't try and snap him up. He is a far better player than the current defenders they have.

The idea of center halves that young makes me nervous should Jan pick up an injury.
You've managed to find a negative in us possibly signing one of the most promising young CBs in world football.
Amazing.

I mean his age is literally the only negative. I realize that reason is also the only way we can get a player of his calibre but it is a genuine concern that our CBs should Jan go down would be 22 years old and 19 years old.

Toby to Barca probably the best outcome we could hope for.

De Ligt is a talent but not sure we actually need him. Could be another distraction from the real problems in midfield.

agree but if talent becomes available you have to take the opportunity else it rarely comes around again. jan/de ligt/sanchez/foyth for a back 3 and 2 marauding wing-backs (rs?) would be incredibly solid yet dynamic. if the talent is big enough you make room somehow.

True, i'd just rather have Dier there. That four lacks experience for me, especially when Vertonghen is missing.

If we got De Ligt in I reckon we should find a loan for Foyth. A Premier League one would be ideal to help him adapt.
