I didn't see one, so I thought I'd start one.

I'm a big James Wade fan. Last night he was absolutely awesome in beating Phil 'The Power' Taylor in the World Matchplay Semi-Finals at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool by 17 legs to 14... (the first time he's beaten him in eight attempts) and tonight, he faces an even tougher test in the Final. Mighty Michael Van Gerwin, the world number 1 and former World Champion.

All the smart money is going to be on MVG against James 'The Machine' Wade and having given everything he had last night against Taylor, it may just be that he won't have enough against the amazing Dutchman who has been on blistering form of late, but the true nature of sport is it's complete unpredictability. Come on Wadey...!!!

I get more enjoyment from a good game of darts than most football matches. The 2007 world championship final between Taylor and Barney was one of the most gripping sporting events I've ever seen.

Going to the darts is also a great night out.

As for tonight, well Wade is a best priced 7/2 to win. He's playing some of the best arrows of his career but he has to hope that MVG is off his game (which he has been for most of the tournament tbf) to win. Can't warm to the fella but fair play to him if he wins.

MvG has been off form since the revelations he was playing away from home less than a year after getting married.
He is playing a bit better at the moment, but way off his world championship winning form of last year.

If Wade can stay focussed he will win tonight.

Just wasn't to be for Wadey tonight and MVG ran out a very worthy winner. Perhaps James gave too much of himself to beat The Power last night and was running a bit on empty tonight, who knows. Anyways it's been a great tournament again this year.

I have nothing against darts but I do wonder how/why it is considered a sport instead of a game sometimes

I personally find it pretty boring to watch on tv and I wouldn't watch by choice - but it does look like fun being in the crowd with a few beers and an electric atmosphere

Got a quarter final ticket on new years day. Might have to swerve it as it'll be a nightmare getting home.

The darts were brilliant. Having a mascot sized Scooby Doo meant we got on TV a few times. The atmosphere is great fun with some really good banter between the tables and the stands. The darts were almost like something that was going on in the background and the main event was a massive fancy dress party.

It must have been a brilliant sight for commuters at Euston station to see Scooby, Shaggy, Fred, Velma and Daphne going down the escalators to the underground.

A really, really good day out.

Why do you have to go in fancy dress? Why not just go and enjoy the darts with your friends? You don't have to look like a pot plant or Captain Hook. Sorry, but I'm one of the people who finds the idea of people dressing up and making fannys of themselves just to get a half second on TV a bit tiresome and it detracts from my viewing as an avid darts fan to have the cameras constantly checking the audience while there's a game going on. Sorry for the mini-rant. Whatever you choose to look like when you go, I hope you enjoy yourself, that's the main thing mate.

It's a damn good question and one I cannot answer. I blame Sky and Barry Hearn. Way, way back when the darts was on BBC Grandstand darts was very much punters enjoying the darts in their normal attire. The darts split over 20 years ago and the PDC went to Sky and people started wearing Christmas jumpers or santa hats (at the World Championships). The fancy dress has escalated from this into the monster that it now is.

I reckon if we didn't get 'dressed up', we'd look more ridiculous sat on the tables than if we did...we'd being singled out by the stands as 'Boring, boring tables' and mocked by Wayne Mardle live on tv.

What the panning of cameras does is pad out what is a relatively short game over the course of an evening allowing for more adverts and hence Barry Hearn coining it in in the process.

So, I can only apologise for spoiling your darts viewing...and remember its Barry's fault

PDC World Championships start tonight.
Watched the "House of Flying Arrows" documentary this afternoon, quite a good little effort.
