I'd say we're not in bad shape in defence, it's the central midfield position where we're incredibly weak, proven by the fact that our starting 2 there are Wilshire and Henderson.

CM is a problem for us as well, but our options at CB are woeful.

Will be good if Rose can get some game time, might help get him match fit quicker and maybe find some form.

I think he’s match fit, he just can’t be arsed playing for us. Bet he tries hard for England.

Tarkowski, Stones, Jones and Maguire are all decent, plus Dier as well.

Tarkowski and Maguire are completely unproven at international level, that's not to say they're not going to do well, but we just don't know so they can hardly be counted as a "strength". Dier is decent but he's mostly played midfield for England IIRC, Stones I just flat out don't get the hype around, I've never seen him have a good game once. Jones is injured.

£85 for a kids shirt and shorts? Absolute disgrace.
You can pick up a rugby or cricket shirt for between £25-£35 so why do the FA think this is acceptable?
You can pick up four kids Ralph Lauren polo shirts from TK Maxx for less and I know what I’d rather see my boys wearing.
I’d love to see parents boycott it but unfortunately there are far too many that’ll want to keep up with the Jones’s.

I think being proven at 'international level' is a bit of a myth to be honest.

International level isn't the pinnacle it used to be, and some of these players are playing against much better teams week in week out than they will at the World Cup.

The thing England have never been able to do is get the best out of their team at a tournament, whereas others have come with a system, stuck to it, and been successful.

There are far too many good teams at this World Cup for England to expect too much, but the big problem is that Southgate still hasn't stamped any sort of identity on this England team so there's no idea about the way we'll play come the World Cup itself.

A little side note if I may.

Pre England match...

For those interested Russia play Brazil in Moscow today. It's on FreeSports on sky channel 424. Programme starts at G.M.T
3.55 p.m

This channel is a free view channel but not sure under what number you'd find the channel using a free view box or similar.

Sorry for off topic. (y)

I agree with you that often the international team are weaker than the club you play for, but I still think people need to settle in in the same way as they do at a club, if not more so. If you're a young kid who's just got a call up, you're not only playing in a team with people you don't know, you're on a much bigger stage and unfortunately with the England team in particular there is an immense amount of unfair pressure and scrutiny. If you get put in and make one mistake you get absolutely slaughtered in the press etc. so knowing all that must make it difficult to settle into the team. I'm not saying just pick the same tired old faces, I'm just saying the likes of Maguire, Tarkowski etc., while decent players at club level, it's unfair to expect them to just come in and transform the England team when they have so little experience. Nothing to do with the level of ability at international football, I mean the levels of pressure etc.
