Hudson-Odoi has zero goals and assists in the PL this season. His goals and assists so far have been against Forest, Sheff Wed, PAOK, Malmo, and Dynamo Kiev none of whom are particularly good. He's getting picked on talent and not his performances. We'll have to agree to disagree but I think it's wrong to send out the message that bench warmer with potential at a big six club is enough to get you into the national team.

Southgate should come out and explain why playing in the Championship is being held against calling up Grealish but not against Mason Mount and Jack Butland.

So if you read my previous post it would have somewhat explained the reason regarding his stats, let's provide some context:

The reason for his lack of goals and assists in the Prem is because he hasn't started a single league game, he's been a sub in 6 matches and that is due to his manager being stubborn and unwilling to play him because he wanted to leave, is that his fault? Ask any Chelsea fan and they've been begging for his inclusion since the start of the season, he's more than ready especially since Willian and Pedro have been very inconsistent this season.

He has 4 goals, 2 assists in 4 starts in the Europa League and has 1 goal and 2 assists in 2 starts in the FA Cup which kind of suggests that he's doing very well when he's given opportunities to play, like I mentioned before he's a unique talent who in any other situation would be playing more regularly and his displays since he's come in suggest that he should be playing more, it's down to his manager but the point is that he's been tested at the top level.

Wouldn't even compare Butland to him seeing as we have a dearth of quality keepers in England anyway and we're hardly blessed with keepers and he has Prem experience and for all the hype around Mount he hasn't got a cap to his name and he's back in the u21's. He didn't say that he'd stop picking players from the Championship by the way he just said that it's far more difficult to asses his level whilst playing in the league. I personally can see what he's trying to do - give Grealish an incentive to step up and better his career in order to be in the reckoning for an intl call up.

So despite only just coming back from a second long term hamstring injury, England decide to play him twice in the space of 3 days despite picking up a knock in the first game. FFS

Southgate: Jack Grealish must play in the Premier League if he wants an England cap

Would rather young players playing regularly in the Championship be called up than those like Hudson-Odoi and Loftus-Cheek who don't even start at Chelsea. What kind of message does that send to young players: it's better to be a substitute at a club like Chelsea than playing regular football.
Southgate's said more than just that though. He said he's open to Championship players but it's hard to judge them when they're playing at a lower level than the Prem.
It's a fair point.

Blow the whistle. Take the nil nil and no injuries. Southgate you fucking prick

Why have a go at the manager for picking our players? He's going to pick the best team available.

All the moaning on here about our players getting selected for England is getting really boring.

I like how hudson-odoi doesn't need much back lift when he goes to shoot or cross with power, it allows him to play the ball quicker.
