Is it too early for a 25-man squad prediction?

Goalkeepers: Pickford, Butland, McCarthy
Defenders: Trippier, Alexander-Arnold, Walker, Maguire, Stones, Gomez, Shaw, Rose
Midfielders: Alli, Hughes, Maddison, Dier, Foden, Lingard, Cook
Forwards: Kane, Sterling, Gray, Sancho, Vardy, Wilson

Think a lot of the younger lads have forced their way into contention.

Might be a bit optimistic - wouldn't be averse to seeing Wan-Bissaka, Lascelles, Chilwell, Tarkowski, Loftus-Cheek or Rashford in there but don't think it's likely.

As much as I'd love to see him picked, I think this squad may be one too early for Sancho. He's only had two games this season both of which he started on the bench. I also think it's maybe a squad too early for Sessegnon and Foden.

My prediction would be:
Goalkeepers: Pickford, Butland, McCarthy
Defenders: Trippier, Alexander-Arnold, Walker, Maguire, Stones, Gomez, Tarkowski, Holgate, Shaw, Bertrand
Midfielders: Alli, Henderson, Dier, Milner, Lingard, Hughes, Barkley
Forwards: Kane, Sterling, Walcott, Vardy, Gray

Im not keen on walker being there, at the moment it has to be Alexander-Arnold or Walker. Walker at CB is ridiculous

I guess Southgate has faith in him there? Otherwise I would only want Gomez or Lascelles in that covering centre back role, if we are going to continue with 3 centre backs - I did like the balance in defence. Proper left field but could Steve Cook do a job?

I think Cook is a great shout to be honest. I really rate him although he can be a bit slow on the turn at times. I just can't see Southgate picking him ahead of someone younger like Holgate. (I'm presuming Lascelles will be unavailable due to the ankle injury which kept him out at the weekend).

Based on what, he was terrible at the world cup there and you dont see Pep playing him in there

Walker saved 2 or 3 times but got us in trouble a lot more. Personally would prefer to see Dier at RCB than midfield

He wasn’t happy in that position that be sure. It really depends on Southgate’s tactics - if we require a speedy centre back then I have suggested others. A three of Stones, Maguire and Gomez would be good now and moving forwards.

Odd for Vardy to step down when he's the second choice striker. We aren't exactly blessed with loads of strikers at the moment.

A bit disappointing. I'm not sure what Delph, Loftus-Cheek, Lallana, Welbeck have done to warrant a place. They haven't started a league game this season and have only made three sub appearances between them.

Agreed, don't know how Welbeck keeps getting a place, would take Theo Walcott over him at the moment and that's saying something!

No place for Grealish and Rice?

Sounds like something you’d order from a Chinese in Dublin.

This has to be the dumbest international break - just after the WC, players have barely had time to reacclimate with the club, and they are called up again.

Southgate should have called in more fresh faces, given the WC players who played a lot a bit of an extended break. Poor player management imo
