It's a bit shit. We are so predictable. Either set pieces or pass to Trippier who lays it down the line etc.

Rinse repeat

That game reminded me why I stopped watching England years ago. Time to resume the boycott again.

He can't finish, for all of his lack of physical gifts Kane could bury any chance at all ages

Harrys the best in the game now though. Harry didn't even make his premier league debut until he was 19 so Rashfords ahead of where Harry was at the same age. That's not too say that he'll be as good as Kane, but we should make some allowances for age when judging his performances.

Can't be fitness. Unless there s some mystery injury.

I think, like in the wc he is being asked to play as a playmaker in midfield. But he isn't messi, that's not his skill set. He can play a great pass, but he should be up top.
His touch has been poor though for a while now. Coupled with him looking like he's wearing lead boots.

His technique has always been exemplary but lately balls are getting away from him quite frequently up front or in midfield.

Kane's just done the media and said that the ref bottled it tonight. Very much unlike him. The cynical part of me (okay, adimittedly that's always quite a large part of me) wonders if he wants to get himself banned...

We played the majority of the second half with 4 centre-backs on the pitch, Dele playing holding-mid and Kane looking about as sharp as Emile Heskey on a bad day; it's amazing we only lost by 1 in my opinion.

Agree. If you want a proper CM, why not play Winks instead?

It's clearly not where Dele is most effective...

This one was probably too soon for him. Hopefully he can make the next squad. Madison could be a good option as well.

Harry should lead the line
England and Spurs.
Rashford should play off him
and Moura on the wing preferably right.
Two up top confuses him
and forces him deeper to no good effect.

Dele worked hard and found space
but no-one played alongside
and he was too far away from the front line action.
Thought Dier was an improvement on Henderson,
mind you that wouldn't have been hard.

Rose made a difference and Trippier was OK
except for hesitating instead of crossing.

Spain were cleverer than us.
But Rashford had two chances to score
and the disallowed goal was a nonsense.

Stones is so slow to release the ball.
Lingard did very little
though he always looks busy.

Come on, don’t be like the rest! England have more glory hunters than any team in history. Too many give it ‘I’ll only watch them if they start winning’
Like Chelsea/United/City plastics

I watched the World Cup. Couldn't avoid England I'm afraid.
I only watched the game last night to see if Kane started and whether or not he could finally put in a decent performance. Sadly he didn't. Reading the papers and associated comments plenty of others are starting to notice the current Kane is well off the pace.

That's a really shit poem.

More of the same really in that first half.

It's maybe understandable in high pressure tournament football at the World Cup, so you forgive them then, but again tonight I am struggling to recall ever seeing a team find it so hard to play the ball out from the back. More often than not it's just shuffled across the park between the defence/keeper, and often we are unable to find the forward passes and options available to move up the pitch with the ball.

Without the ball it's been a real struggle to press. A few of these aren't the most diligent in their work, but, as Spurs are currently finding, it's a lot harder to try and press with a rigid 3-5-2 and when you try to you often get badly pulled out of shape trying to cover huge distances. I think this is more of a shape to sit back and counter attack, rather than push up the pitch. And I don't see why it's three at the back every single game.

Not a great half, Rose has been the most lively and the only one carrying any real threat to them. As ever badly need someone to control the game, and a couple of them (Rashford, RLC) simply have no game awareness, where to run, when to pass, etc etc.

Hopefully it picks up second half.....

I banged the drum after the World Cup that this team was nothing special. We beat a few teams that we should be beating but got taught footballing lessons every time we come up against a decent team. We literally have no control in the centre of the park which is where the big games are won and lost.

The whole country got so carried away with the its coming home bollocks that nobody wanted to see what the run to the semi finals were. A piss easy route / draw that is only usually reserved for the likes of Liverpool.
