Ty HW. I'm more concerned about the Sterling nonsense and a couple of years ago when the Sun newspaper hired a photographer to take pictures of Oliver Giroud in a hotel room with a woman who wasn't his wife shall we say. That is not related to football or of interest to the public.

I suppose that is where I'm coming from. Somehow the world seems to have gone crazy over this slip of paper when it is incredibly small fry in the scheme of things.

Using a special lens to scope in on a piece of paper, after you’ve been invited to hold an open training session, in the hope it will gleen some information, as it did, is not reporting the news. That’s basically investigative journalism about something no one wants to know about and negatively effects everyone involved. And they go on about holding institutions to account, how is releasing a team 3 days early holding England to account? It’s just fucking them over.

You think it's "small fry" that the press, who the entire England camp has been nothing but accommodating and open towards, has shat all over the totally undeserved hospitality, via sly and underhanded methods?

It's likely that Southgate and his coaches have been working on teams, formations and tactics since the groups were decided, and then been working on those plans with the squad since they joined together, whilst obviously not wanting their opponents to know a single thing they've planned. All in the hope of restoring some much needed pride in a once respected footballing nation.

That's all (potentially) been undone because of this stupid twat with his magnificent camera. It's nothing but a slap in the face of each and every member of the entire England set-up that has done nothing but make them welcome at the camp.

Pond life!!

And this is the very first tweet this morning from the knob who spent all of yesterday defending the press.

Constant new lows, attacking other journalists for not following the party line.

On the upside, seeing the replies to these arrogant knobs on twitter is warming my heart. All football fans standing up against the institution which has constantly fucked over football fans. Can’t think of one positive thing they’ve done for us.

On the topic of football journalism, I thought this was a really interesting insight into Sterling and goes against the established media narrative. I'm not saying he's a saint by any mans, but it's intriguing to get a player's perspective.

I'd definitely recommend having a look at the Player's Tribune; articles from Lukaku, Shaqiri, Gabriel Jesus etc on their backgrounds and motivations.

I think many people are intelligent enough to see beyond the press nowadays. There's a growing disconnect between the England fans and the press now, people are sick of them stirring up shite. I think the players are aware of that too, i'm sure Sterling for example has seen the vast amount of social media posts rightly defending him.

I certainly want best for the team, and if the press are not helping then fuck them.

Let’s be honest, the leak isn’t that big of a deal in terms of what Panama can do with it. It was fairly obvious how we were going to line up given the first match and Panama remain limited, all be it we shouldn’t take the game lightly by any means.

But it is about the principle and when it comes to principles and sports journalists, well...

Ban the rags from the England camp as far as I’m concerned. They deserve no less.

The replies are nice. Most people are seeing through the bullshit and turning against them.

Next step: stop buying their papers.

@chavkev I get what you are saying. But there's a difference in how you do it. Like taking the photo from outside the complex using a super zoom or whatever. To being invited in and pissing on the hospitality. It is minor, but it is the principle more than anything, with a backdrop of the strange agenda of trying to undermine our own national team.
It's this, exactly this. They wanted more access, they were given it, along with an openness and honesty from the players that's been described (by the media themselves) as pretty much unheard of.

They shat all over that. Well, whoever the perp was did.

I've not followed this but if I were a fellow journalist, I'd be ****ing off whoever did this off, ****ing him off roundly and very loudly. They can't have their cake and eat it.

Sterling starts then. Don't want to damage his confidence. Ah diddums.

Never mind Rashford who keeps playing well every time he comes on only to be stuck on the bench for the next game. What about his confidence?
