At least Real Madrid won't be knocking on Levy's door for Kane based on the WC despite being Golden boot winner.

With all things considered, we did more than OK this tournament..

We'll be better in 4 years time..that's a certainty
If we can't find a 'hazard' and a 'modric', this'll likely be our ceiling.

We need to find 2/3 proper quality players to come through into the squad.

So much is being made of Kane’s drought and apparently he hasn’t had a shot on target since the Colombia penalty.

What about the shot he took that Subasic saved, that rebounded back to him for the shot off the post?

Good - he's doing just fine for us in the PL. I bet you given any indication that he is available, they would be straight in for him.

He was (incorrectly) given offside, so it doesn't count.

But the way you find the handful of top bracket players is to have good and consistent development across England. For me, it's a process - let's take the 'Modric' type player for instance. What we need are several players of that ilk coming through and so they are found at most clubs in the league. Keep bringing them through and the national team has the picking of the cream at the top.

Of course you're not going to have perfect harmony with so many clubs doing their own thing, but there has to be some sort of cultural harmonisation as to what sort of players are coming through and in what style of football...... Even now at youth level, and accepting they're not the finished products in terms of decision making and controlling a game, with results picking up and it looking more promising, what I see still is a lot of more direct/pacey/individualistic type players coming through, no matter how talented they are, rather than the cerebral ultra technical type.

I doubt he'd last a full season in the PL.

Media has gone overboard with him based on beating some average teams

At the end of the day this is still the same shit boring England in open play.
Trouble is that it's always a case of extremes - people going overboard one way or the other. The England team has been at it's lowest ebb over the last few years and we have even struggled against 'average' sides. We have taken a small step in the right direction but as @thinktank said, we won't move on without adding to the squad.

Alot of comments about Kane 'since injury'

I swear he's been playing this way before he got injuried. It's more like since 2nd leg against juventus

You could probably dig out match ratings and see he's been pretty meh before he got the injury

Fair point. I think that 'quality' players, especially in midfield, should mean being cultured, which we do lack a bit.

But he’d still been scoring.

I think he’s bulked up a little too much. Let’s see how he does with some rest and a preseason.

What's the answer? Do you think he needs a rest?

Considering Kane does’nt score in August, i’d be tempted to send him on holiday to rest up until mid August.

Kanes a victim of a shit system in the england setup, they swapped out young for rose, great! lets get more ball in to the middle, then brought on delph and told him to play like young, arseholes. Every team we played knew what we were going to do, just forcing us wide right and defending it at the back post, sunday league stuff.

Yeah probably, he has to do alot of dog work at spurs too as he's often alone depending on who we're playing.

It could the cumulative ankle injuries that's doing him all so , taking away something each time.
All that continued ligament damage is really bad
