Yes, Levy invested in the pitch/facilities primarily for the NFL but he certainly did not bank on NWHL being the confirmed home of a London franchise.

Levy would not have signed the 10 year deal without cast iron guarantees.

The EE Wembley deal has at least two years to run so our stadium rights deal will not be affected by a deal that has not even happened.

Some of you really need to chill the fuck out.
I don't even think the NFL was the primary reason for the retractable pitch.

The theme of the build has been "A year round entertainment venue". I think being able to host concerts/boxing/festivals etc at any point of the year is the ultimate goal. Haringey Council pushed hard for this as well.

I think the NFL was always just a punt - speculate to accumulate situation. I don't think Levy had his heart set on it.I think he would have paid for the retractable pitch anyway. The NFL specific rooms can easily be re-purposed at little cost so I don't think much is lost there.

What does worry me is the naming rights situation. If a company is poised to put pen-to-paper, upon hearing that Wembley might be available (for say 25% extra) from a promotional stand point that would be a killer for us. Whatever happens it would mean a lower negotiated deal for us.

I also think though that as Wembley is such a bad choice for NFL (ridiculous amount of money, poorly equipped, events limited by Brent Council, 90k is a lot to sustain over a full NFL season, lots of legacy football issues to keep in place, etc) that Khan may have been in talks with Levy for a while about a deal to use our stadium and if Levy is playing hardball, Khan is putting this offer out in the media to force Levy's hand. Levy is being Levied.

Surely, as an association of members, the FA would need to petition its members before being able to sell off their biggest asset? I'm not happy that the FA wasn't too become the international equivalent of West Ham!
