West ham will offer to move into it as it gives them a football stadium which they don't have, chance to play at Wembley a bit more often which again they don't do plus they can charge a quid a ticket or 50 quid for a season ticket.

Permanant, guaranteed money in the NFL > renting a stadium for 2 games a year. The penalties to cancel would be pennies on the dollar next to a permamant NFL home

But would a UK franchise actually be successful in the long-term??
NFL Europe suggests not...

What is it 8 games a year? I think they'd probably sell out. The big bit is the corporate though which definitely will.

Wonder how chelsea fans are taking it? Could really fuck them up building a new stadium. Or at least make it a lot more expensive.

On paper it seems like a great deal for the FA. They get 500 million, they still get to use Wembley for the regular matches, they still get the income for Club Wembley, and they can install all of these artificial pitches. It does suck for Spurs since the Jaguars would probably move to Wembley.

Not really. Wembleys turnover is just under £400m a year. It cost £800m to build.

no way would we be going down this route without guarantees up the ying-yang

You obviously know more about business than me, but I wouldn’t have thought the NFL would be in a position to guarantee us the London franchise if it were to become available. I would think that decision would mostly be the domain of the team owners. I think the NFL link up at WHL is economically viable just based on the deal we have at the moment to have two games a year for ten years. Levy would obviously hope that we would be the stadium of choice if a London franchise were to be available and would probably think we were a shoe in unless something extremely unlikely happened – like the NFL owners somehow managing to purchase a huge stadium in London!

Sure it makes 400m a year in revenue, but it just recently started to make a profit. So would you take 500m now or settle for 30m a year in profit?

The fa should take the £30m a year. They are a not for profit organisation.

Idea for NFL: 2 London teams. One at Wembley (Jags), one at NWHL (expansion?). Keep them in the same division so they play each-other 2x/yr. Creates an immediate rivalry within the city.

oh for sure they wouldn’t be able to guarantee or even influence such a thing (overtly)

I was referring to the guaranteed number of games per annum etc.
