Assuming we get there, who would you rather face?

Villa maybe our best chance to win it but if we lose we may not get the Europa place if we don't qualify via the league.

Chelsea - we know we can beat them on the day but even if we do lose we could qualify for the Europa cup as the highest placed finishers not already in Europe (although not an issue if we do the job in the league).

I've gone for Chelsea, we've not had a really hard fixture in the cup so far, tough ones but I don't want to win it and not have beaten one of man u, liverpool, chelsea or arsenal along the way.

Villa for me. We are twice the team that they are.

Chelsea. I would rather we go into the final as underdogs. We have nothing to lose and can play freely.

I voted for Chelsea, seeing John Terry walking up all those steps to collect a loosers medal is a priceless experiance.

I voted either, but I think I'd prefer Chelsea. We've beaten them in both Cup finals we've played them in, why not make it a third. By then all their players will have had nervous breakdowns anyway having missed out on the league yet again.

Don't care. A final's a final. A one off game. Anything can happen. I'd like to think Villa would come out and actually play a bit more than they did in the two league games against us this season, and as for Chelsea, well, that'll always have a bit more spice to it as its a derby game too.

Just to note, if we get to the final, it's our third final in three years. That ain't half bad, even if we only win 1/3.

True, but I can't see us finishing 7th and Villa finishing even lower! If we win today we're 12 points clear of Everton

This thread will be nailed to the Pompey dressing room door next sunday!

But I don't care, we will beat Pompey, and we're going to do Chelsea at Wembley again.

Nah, we'll be alright, they can't afford the print out...

Either will be fine... Villa would be well up for it having lost the League Cup final, and Chelsea will be well up for it having just lost the Premier League...

Can someone clear this up for me:

If the winners on the FA Cup have already got into Europe through the league where does the extra place go?

Runners up in the FA Cup or to the League (Like the Carling Cup)

I always thought it was the League, but more and more people are telling me its the runners up

Were Millwall in Europe a few years ago after they lost the final? I can't remember.

It's always been the runners up.

Then, if the runners up are already in Europe, it goes to the league.

I'm pretty certain there was a rule change this year, which meant that the runners up no longer qualified for Europe.

To qualify you have to win the cup, or qualify through the league. If the cup winner is already in Europe then their place goes to the league.
