Been handed this play off on a plate. Amazing what a bit of pressure can do

Masters this week, love it. Who are people backing? I’ve gone for Casey 22/1 and Leishman 50/1 e/w.

Not putting money on it, but I'd go for Justin Thomas, Bubba & Rose.

Casey's a good shout though.

I think it's wide open this year - no change there, tbh. Rory, Tiger, Dustin Johnson's got to hit form soon, Fleetwood (?), Speith, Hatton to do a Willett? ...

Yeah I can't wait.

I quite fancy Rory this week, but at 8/1 he's too short for me. I've backed Justin Thomas at 11/1, Rose at 25/1, Bubba at 28/1, Casey at 20/1, Kuchar at 45/1, Hatton at 50/1 and Harman at 125/1. All E/W.

Rory 12/1 now with Betfair. I reckon there's just about value there, especially with them paying 8 places. His putting (and all round game) was brilliant the other week.

So many potential winners of this one. I'm nowhere near finalising my picks, although I have backed Stenson who I think is decent EW value with the 8 or 10 places. Bubba at 28/1 is decent but I can't back him now at 16/1.

The top 5 favourites are all 10/1 or less at at least one bookie. Definitely an event for shopping round for the odds this one.

Didnt realise he’d drifted. If I hadn’t placed my bets I’d be tempted.

Hoping for another European win. Rose has come close over the last three years, plus there are a lot of players in top form. It would be great to see Rory complete the slam. It is however hard to look pat Bubba or Justin Thomas who are both in great form with Watson of course having already won this twice

Looking forward to a great week though whoever wins

Augustus always looks so beautiful. Looks like some solid starts out there from the big hitters. I back Justin Thomas and then each way on Casey which isn't looking too handsome but plenty of golf to play.

Edit: as I write about the solid start for big hitters Garcia seems to have attached a water magnet to his ball! Insane, what a way to lose a tournament on day 1.

Yeah Augusta is stunning. Even the pine straw looks beautiful, although it reminds me of the ridiculous eucalyptus pine tree my next door neighbour had which used to shed its needles all over my garden. Thankfully the miserable old fucker eventually had it cut down, but I digress.

All my bets aren’t looking good so far, but at least I didn’t have any money on Garcia. Couldn’t believe what I was watching!

Spieth v rory in a major then? Been waiting a while for this. Could be immense.
Spieth looks imperious but then he did two years ago and dropped five shots on 10,11,12 in the last round so we will see if he can keep it up. The good thing about Rory was how he finished the round making pars when he looked like dropping shots; he holed some great putts. It would be great to see a good shoot out with these two ... though I would love to see Stenson play Augusta well as he never has and when in the zone he is a hard man to beat

Speith starts double bogey, bogey.

I thought he might run away with it, but that's going to put a smile on a few faces.

Anyone else having problems watching it on the red button? Haven't been able to get it working yesterday or today.

Had some problems earlier on - I'm on Virgin cable - but it's working okay now. Watching Amen Corner - great stuff!

Reed is a dick. Great player but personality wise an absolute toss pot. Can't think of anyone id like less to win the Masters. Hope he crumbles today.

Hopefully McIlory can make a charge and put some pressure on him.

I'd backed Casey and Oosthuizen so might get a return with Louis if he continues to play well this week

Reed was one of those I thought might do well this week (though I didn't mention him earlier!)

He's in that group of good players who could easily win a major, and this might be it. I bloody hope not, though. Not sure why, but I've never warmed to him at all. Possibly because of the Ryder Cup, which explains why so many Americans aren't overly fond of Poults.
