The Issue I Have With Certain English “Fans”

I think most football fans identify with Kane. Dele not so much.

England don’t seem to do tournaments, never have and this one looks overly long and in a particularly inhospitable nation.

Why would they identify more with Kane then Dele? Both of them are just nice young men off the pitch! Kane probably does a lot more publicity work but that is it.

Most people don't care about what happens off the pitch. Dele's been accused of diving several times, he's been caught on camera giving his England team mate the bird, hes been sent off in the Europa league for an absolute horror tackle, he's been done for punching an opposition player and he's even had his own sex tape.

The frustration with Sterling is he is usually just plain shit for England whereas he is often class for his club.

Maybe it's how he is deployed, maybe it's his mentality / attitude. It doesn't endear people to him though.

Kane gets too much stick and non-Spurs fans need to appreciate him a little more as he is one of the few top class English players that could get into other international teams at present.

I used to follow England quite closely and would support players whichever club they came from.

But then we had that period of scummy players like Rooney, Terry and Cole (Ashley) and I just couldn't stomach watching them. And obviously Judas before them.

I also had a thing about Lampard being in the side, not because of who he played for, but because he was so clearly not international standard and was blocking Gerrard being played properly (even though again he was class for Chelsea but just so crap for England).

A general thing as well is a lot of players for England just look like that can't be bothered and when you see them being lazy and not bothering, then smashing it for their club teams it leads to a lot of resentment.

And our press are complete ****s and don't help either.

Sterling gets stick because the media have shaped people's perceptions of him being a greedy young ungrateful footballer who has a 'blinging' lifestyle which creates jealousy and resentment. His treatment from the press is just shocking and has clearly had racial undertones to it.

Also you are completely wrong about the Lampard thing, he was an unbelievable player but didn't fit into England's setup the same way as Chelsea, same for Gerrard and Liverpool.

Rose, Dier, Dele, Kane ... any and all could be scapegoated this summer.

Or be heroes. But nah, I think scapegoated more likely

Toss up between Alli and Kane IMO. If Kane doesn't bang them in every game he'll be scapegoated and if Alli makes even one mistake everyone will be up in arms.

Social media is the problem. Idiots are a lot louder than normal people and social media is mostly a tool for idiots to just spew hatred.

The media start it and then encourage it because they have always been anti-England/English football.
Look how they are fawning over an Egyptian with a history of anti-semitism yet they cannot wait to stick the boot in on Harry Kane and Dele Alli.

The fans I really can't stand are the fans by the corner flags who scream abuse and give the wanker signs to anyone taking a corner. It just looks pathetic.

Nah I’m really not about lampard, he was shit for England and should have made way for gerrard to play central (I did say he was an awesome player for Chelsea though).

Sterling is also shit for England - he doesn’t put enough effort in even though he clearly has the talent.

I agree the press should back off him though (as they should with all footballers really, their behaviour is really quite appalling).

There’s a difference between playing for national side and club side, some players just don’t transfer club form to the national team.

And don’t you sleep? ??

Shit me I thought I was up late and that’s only cos I’m a bit wired after watching a Avengers at cinema!

Yeah he didn't transfer his form over to England because they had a different tactical setup to Chelsea which is what I said before, same for Gerrard who saved his best performances for his club because he was given more license to go out and play, you could say the sa me for Scholes as well anyway can't be asked getting into it, going sleep now lol

Spot on!

I for one couldn’t give a toss about the WC, what with it being in Russia is bad enough, lump on top VAR.....doesn’t make for good viewing.
Just my opinion

Lampard was voted England player of the year twice so he definitely wasn't shit. You could argue that it was a low bar, but he was still better than all the others for a couple of years.

Really??

That’s surprising, i do recall when he first came into the team at Euro 2004 and scored a few goals.

Was probably a case of best of a bad bunch, as really do feel during that period we’d have been better with Gerrard as the offensive central midfielder with a specialist holder alongside him.

Instead Gerrard either got pushed wide or we played them both in middle with no holder and that left us lacking a ball winner.

Well if guys have been on social media today you will have seen what I was talking about, the tournament hasn’t even started yet and the hate has already begun. Kane is such a classy guy, it really pisses me off the amount of hate he gets. He’s the perfect role model. Hope he proves them all wrong!

We are like no other nation, it's really embarrassing - had to try and explain the rivalry to some of my work colleagues today who are from other counties and they couldn't get their head around the fact that we don't support our players in this country, they were actually in disbelief how bad the abuse is he's getting.

I know it's been this way for a while, but I think the growth of social media has increased tribalism between club's fans to a really ridiculous extent.
