I'm likely being exceedingly dense, but does a 3 year deal for a 20-year-old sound a bit on the short side? Would maybe have expected a 5 year deal for a highly rated youngster who's no longer a scholar with a limit to the length of their contract... but then I am usually clueless about most things.

Anyone able to set me right?

i would have expected four years but maybe he didn't want to sign for that long if he knows he's getting shunted back down to 3rd choice soon.

Perhaps the clubs still not 100% that he'll cut the mustard, looks very promising so far but still to be really tested in the PL.
Id expect this will be re-negotiated in 12 months time when we have a better idea.

If we do bring in another senior RB, would people want KWP loaned out?

he could go somewhere and play every week, and if he looks the goods (and our new RB settles in) then Trippier might surplus to requirements this time next year.

Wouldn't read too much into the contract length, probably just bumping up his wage as a well done for making his senior debut. If he was to get a run in the team and was doing well then he'd get another new contract in the New Year.

3 years is short. My guess is that he's had the terms of his contract amended but not an extension.

Based on Poch's quotes about CCV and Onomah - I would not expect KWP to go anywhere. He will stay here and force the club to make a decision next summer.

Poch talked about a 2 year rule. He would like his young player training with the 1st team but after 2 years they need to be loaned out to play games if they haven't broken into the first team.

Looked very good for the England U-21s tonight.

Composed, positionally aware, good on the break, very encouraging. Great attitude too, and looks so mature in the way he plays. Played LB by the way.

Rose will be gone so I’m happy about this.

Would you say he’s better on the left or right?

Hard to say which is his better side. He certainly looked comfortable on the left, and even came close to scoring after a great run late in the game. He is right footed though so maybe in the long run the right will be best for him when he's up against really top attackers.

But given how well he seems to read the game I'd say he'd be able to adapt to either side.

And it's great to see him playing with a smile on his face, literally!

Congratulations KWP. Makes impressive debut, Sky MOTM away from home, here's your reward:

http://www.skysports.com/football/n...to-sign-serge-aurier-from-paris-saint-germain

Very provocative, but there is an element of truth somewhere in that... Makes debut, performs very solidly, even gets a (admittedly slightly generous) MOTM award... Then promptly gets benched for a clearly nowhere near 100% fit Trippier who a) offered nothing against Chelsea and then b) well, we wish he'd just stayed anonymous against Burnley.

Hardly trusting and rewarding the youth there.....
