Rose will be gone so I’m happy about this.

Would you say he’s better on the left or right?

Hard to say which is his better side. He certainly looked comfortable on the left, and even came close to scoring after a great run late in the game. He is right footed though so maybe in the long run the right will be best for him when he's up against really top attackers.

But given how well he seems to read the game I'd say he'd be able to adapt to either side.

And it's great to see him playing with a smile on his face, literally!

He's much better on the right.

Very provocative, but there is an element of truth somewhere in that... Makes debut, performs very solidly, even gets a (admittedly slightly generous) MOTM award... Then promptly gets benched for a clearly nowhere near 100% fit Trippier who a) offered nothing against Chelsea and then b) well, we wish he'd just stayed anonymous against Burnley.

Hardly trusting and rewarding the youth there.....

I would happily played KWP in both those games as you know, but I think you're being harsh on Trippier to be honest, I think the way we play, coupled with some shocking play by the team against Burnley will always expose our FB's, we've seen it with Walker (even two days ago for England), we've seen it with Trippier, we saw it with KWP in pre-season, and we'll see it with Aurier.

I won't mind so much if Poch has decided Trippier just hasn't got the all round game and we offload him in the next two windows, but if not, then buying a 24yo Aurier (as good as he can be) is the death knell for KWP's Spurs future at RB.

I like Aurier, seen a lot of him, he definitely has some good qualities, quick, robust, tenacious, gets up and down well, and is slightly better than Walker in forward areas, I suggested we have a look at him 2/3 years ago, but I think KWP has the potential to be better than all of them, and putting two bodies in front of him now would just stagnate his career. I know he may get games as a LB, but he's nowhere near as effective creatively as a LB.

Well that's very encouraging indeed because he was excellent on the left tonight.

He's just that kind of footballer, you could play him anywhere on the pitch (except CB) and he wouldn't look uncomfortable because his technique under pressure is so good, and his football brain is good.

I'm not really blaming Trippier, more that Poch has made a bad call as he's not been fully fit and it's shown in these last two games - and, as I'm sure everyone has experience of it in various ways, if you're not physically all there then it affects you mentally as well. With this one, and the Wanyama selection vs Chelsea, it's been two bad calls that haven't helped the team or either player.

Anyway my point was that it's turned out to be a very risk averse and not exactly a ringing endorsement of KWP after a solid debut. In this instance youth very much wasn't trusted.

Yeah fair points, and my stream was so shit that it was a game that was hard to weigh up to be honest. All I would say, is that if fitness was Trippier's excuse, what was Kane, Alli, Dier, Dembele's etc

My (albeit a bit creaky) view of the game wasn't that Trippier was stand out bad above anyone else. I think much of the post match venom was predictable as the killer ball got played inside him. Poch just picked another slow midfield, Alli and Kane pissed the ball over continually, the game got horribly stretched out as (per usual) Dier sunk back into Toby's underpants, him and Dembele stopped wanting the ball and we tried to play Klopp/Mane break football with Captain slow and captain bumble.

What's the future for KWP I wonder, he's got two right backs in front of him.

Watching Trippier get burner by Sane was frustrating. Both of our RBs have positives but both have weaknesses to their game, I don't both are that great or are doing that well where completely ignoring KWP is fair.

Is it true KWP has actually played vs sane for the England u21’s?

no, sane's a year older than kwp so they won't have met at international level. plus sane has been with germany's seniors for two years now whilst kwp's only just moved up to the u21s.

Odd that he’s got no game time since he was thrown into the deep end away at Newcastle and did very well.

(Yes I know it was only Newcastle and they are basically still a championship side but he did really well)

He was given man of the match as well. We needed an RB but he has been ignored since that game. Really inspires confidence for the young player, doesnt it:rolleyes::mad:

I’ll saynit again, Poch doesnt deserve half the praise he gets for being good with young players. Ashame, really.

Bring in the negotiating ratings, but imo Trippier is good at crossing and average at most other things. KWP deserves a chance. And Poch needs to work hard on getting Aurier up to speed in the Prem. Notably by stopping his love for two-footed sliding tackles.

Yes I'd agree.. he's not the Messiah of youth that a lot of people make him out to be

I don't think anyone's every claimed he's the Messiah but you can't deny that he gives young players far more of a chance than most managers in the league and definitely more so than the managers of any of the other top 6 clubs. On top of that he's proved himself to be an excellent coach, not just of young players but the older ones as well. He definitely has his flaws but IMO the praise he gets for his work with the young players is mostly well-deserved.
