The new contract is great news. For one thing it must mean that he’s been told he will get more chances in the first team. I think we can all agree that’s a good thing.

Very excited for him. Hope he was either given assurances of fighting for his spot here or a season long loan to a PL club if we're to persist with Trips/Aurier :)cautious:). Showed the best of what he can do and what he has to yet to learn yesterday.

Didn’t Hercules say that he would only sign a new contract if he get assurance that he would be one of our 2 RB next season? Anyways very great news hopefully he will get more game time next season

It's a strange one. I agree with other posters who are confounded by why hasn't had more game time. He's good with his passing, link up and build up play as we bring the ball forward from defence. Good crossing and distribution in attack, and has good pace.

I see some defensive weaknesses in terms of positioning and reading threats at set pieces, but given his age and the fact he's just been thrown into the line up cold without a run of games behind him, he's done exceptionally well. Hope he gets much more game time next season. Imo, he has the potential to be our first choice RB.

What he needs to do is to hit the gym in the off season and develop his upper body muscles. From the clip posted here, it is obvious he can get into good positions even in defence, but he doesn't have the strength to hold his opponents off or to fairly barge them off the ball.

It has been known to announce a new contract prior to a loan. Which makes sense if a player is getting a lot more exposure. But doubt a loan would be sorted this early.

Not sure which of the existing RB's should go though.. I don't rate Trippier super highly but then again Aurier, despite looking to have most of the ingredients of a decent fullback, has arguably dropped enough bollocks for 3 seasons in his one so far.

I suspect this means we're letting Rose go, as KWP is also fairly comfortable as an LB, and would provide cover for Davies.

I’m fairly confident this isn’t what it means. If KWP is being used as one of the two in rotation next season, it will be at right back. He should only be a left back in makeshift situations.

Still not sure on him defensively but going forward he put Trippier, Aurier and even Walker all to shame, he made it look so easy continuosly getting the ball in dangerous areas and was superb.

Great, I really like this kid.
Thought it might have been longer than 2021? Is that an extension or just a pay rise does anyone know?
I suspect he is letting the club know he wants to be involved the First team more. If he is I’m sure he will sign an extension this time next year.

I would be fine with trusting Poch's judgment regarding the selling of one of Aurier/Trippier to accommodate KWP. I truly believe KWP will be our RB of the future.
