It's the same people all the time, heard the same thing about Bentaleb, Lesniak, Pritchard, Townsend, there's a reason why these players are playing for lesser teams now, granted I reckon KWP is good enough to start in this team but there's just countless baseless accusations against Poch saying the same thing over and over and they're never justified
The only person calling for Lesniak to even be a squad member, was BC. Bentaleb would be a good option right now, he just had the wrong attitude, Pritchard would be a good back up for Eriksen (which we still dont have) plus I would rather have him in the squad than GKN.

Veljkovic was another player people were clamoring for and he is 1st choice for a team currently 4th in the Bundesliga, so doing alright. Kane was another people want to start and he hasn't been bad in the 4 years since. Winks was a breath of fresh air before his injury too.

Missed the point a little bit there but never mind...

Started for the England U21s tonight at LB. Only watched the first 30mins but had a lot of the ball and won the freekick that led to the first goal.

The oppo sat deep so almost played a cm/lw role and maybe even had the most touches out if anyone in that period. Showed good dribbling speed passes through the lines and crossing. Would've made a good highlights reel.

It's a shame he's not two footed as would start ahead of davies if rose is injured.

Hope he starts at Huddersfield. Trippier for Barca. Sounds like Aurier will be out for a while - the suggestion above that Poch would rather play Sissoko at RWB is just silly. He'll get his start soon. Hopefully he takes his chance.
Is it silly though? He did get his starts, took his chances and did very well in both games, then now seemed to be ignored.
Isn't it 2 games and 2 MOTM awards so far for KWP??
There you go!

The baffling thing about the KWP situation is that for some reason, Poch and the other coaches haven't even considered playing Kyle in a different position on the right. Why not play him in the Sissoko RM/AM position and have him follow the same instructions?. For one thing, KWP is more comfortable with the ball at his feet and has better attacking instincts than Sissoko. We're already deploying Sissoko to play in front of the RB to offer defensive cover, why not play the young talented RB in that same role and reap the benefits of assists on top of defensive cover?

As much as I love poch, and I do, the obsession with physique over technique, is disturbing

You can call it that but Poch has historically gone out of his way to avoid selecting youth players. I really want to KWP to be rewarded for his patience but I can honesty see Poch moving Dier to RB or Sissoko to RWB rather than give those minutes to KWP.
Poch played Dier at RB when he first signed. Dier was only 20, which is pretty youthful so you can’t say that he avoids selecting youth players. However, he does seem to lack faith in KWP for some reason.

If he was english, he would have got more abuse for this

No one doubts poch using young players but he is more like mourinho in that he hasnt given opportunities to players from the academy

Kane, Mason, Bentaleb, Winks all got good chances under Poch and took them.

Other players such as Pritchard, KWP, Amos, CCV to name a few have been given chances albeit brief opportunities.
In addition, Whiteman has been on the bench recently.

That’s nine from our academy and if I could spell the name of the kid who came on at Leicester the other season that makes 10.
Half have been successful and the others not but you can’t say that Poch doesn’t play kids from our academy.
I think fans really hoped that KWP and Edwards would make the grade but we haven’t seen enough of them yet but Poch has.

We also have to appreciate that it is much harder, and a bigger risk playing youth players when we are involved in a higher level of competition. I believe that Poch still has the mantle that if they are good enough then they will play, but not to the detriment of the team or the clubs position.

I dont for a minute think he is trying to hold any individual back as much as we would like to see KWP get some more minutes

If they are good enough then how would they be a detriment to the team. You either think they're good enough or you don't. If you don't why put them on your bench and extend their contract?

Regarding the whole risk thing, surely the whole point he was brought in was because of his reputation of 'using academy players' and to work with what we have. So far he isn't showing any of that here and is falling into the routine of every other PL manager of using experience and buying average squad players and giving them chances above talented academy players

There have been so many times when Poch has brought on subs so late - often too late to make a difference to a game. In so many of those matches he could have brought on KWP and other prospects.

Even Vinny rarely got more than added time. Great opportunity to be a game changer.

I thought he did OK tonight. He was bullied by Antonio however and this may be why Poch is reluctant to play him - there were a couple of times where he got sent flying from a shoulder to shoulder.

Obviously talented and ironically it was when Sissoko came on and played a few 1:2s with him that he really started to look the part further up the pitch..

I like him but perhaps tonight is why Poch is taking it slowly with him?

he was pretty poor tonight. he was turned inside out by games end. aurier wasnt much better and thankfully Sanchez and Foyth saved them several times. I said it in the game thread - how many times were our fullbacks beaten by a simple give-and-go like you learned when you were 9 or 10?

He needs games and experience in order to put into effect what he learns in training. We should look to loan him in January as these 1-2 appearances a season are doing nothing for his development or confidence. Look at Sissoko, he's looking like a vastly improved player after getting back to back run outs.
