He's only gonna become ready if he's given more suitabe minutes. Tonight wasnt ideal but Poch was out of choices.

He did some really good stuff as well too.

I want to see KWP given more minutes and even some starts against inferior opposition.

Poor mistake and the issue with his stature came in again as he fell to the ground a lot in his duals, great block but he needs more games, there were moments where you can see he has a great decision making brain and he has a lot of technical attributes. Personally I feel our fullbacks are more wingbacks and would suit 3-5-2 but either way he needs to start vs Burnley and he needs some games over Christmas for us to really judge.

Exactly. We have the Burnley game followed by the Arsenal cup game coming up. If neither Aurier or Tripps are fit, we should play KWP to get him those badly needed minutes and build his confidence up. You can tell that his teammates understand his predicament and are willing to help him adjust. I think I saw Dele and Kane go over to KWP after the goal to give him a high five and tell him to keep his chin up. That level of trust from your teammates goes a long way.

On one hand I want to give him a big old slap for making a boneheaded mistake that everybody will remember him by.

On the other hand I want to give him a big hug for putting that behind him and going on to put in a relatively solid performance.

Aside from the error had some good moments, some nice one touch passing and is clearly a good technical player. His block was outstanding and made up for the goal. Didn't hide and was very adventurous with runs also, which was nice to see. Did seem to be running out of steam though and it's the physical side he needs to work on. Lovely to see 3 of our own start such an important game at camp nou... While the USA comentary were wanking over la masia academy, our boys were out there repping...

He’s a good footballer, although his relative lack of athleticism may hold him back from being a top full back. Still time for him though.

May have been a result of nervous energy draining him but agree he ran out of steam rather than a lack of athleticism. A stamina issue more than anything I think...

Has to start the next game.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he did, Poch kept faith with Foyth after his penalties etc.

I was worried for him when he got booked, his head could have gone down and he could have had a nightmare, but he didn’t, he kept playing his game and made a lot of good runs down the right. Let’s be honest, his mistake could have happened to any of our experienced pros, it’s nothing I haven’t seen any of out back four do on occasion. Good experience for him imo.

Like others have said, he’s probably not completely ready for us yet, but a few more matches while the others are injured will do him good, and then hopefully a loan after Christmas.

Other than obviously losing the ball for their goal and the yellow card challenge, he was generally solid. It's obvious that he's far more confident going forward than defending, but that's all right atm.

One thing I have noticed though, and it's not just this game but almost every one I've seen him play, he seems to get caught on the wrong side of his opponent too often. I think it's something that could be worked on, but I feel like there are times when he should be goal side, but he's not. He's either square or slightly ahead, allowing the opposing winger to turn easily when receiving the ball. I wonder if it's a consequence of him being over conscious of having to keep that high line, but it's something that needs to be ironed out because it's happened on a reasonably regular basis whenever he's played.

will start one of the next two games....can't see him playing both as that would be three in 8 days and risks an injury.

He's no Sissoko.

But on a serious note, think he did fine today. Managed being on a yellow early pretty well and bounced back from that mistake.

He did well to recover from what was a disastrous start.
It wasn’t a disastrous start though. He got done by a €140 million player with lots experience. Who still had to sell Winks and put away a great finish.

You just have to hope he has learned a lesson. For the rest of his time on the field he was good. He was available for a pass, defended well, and generally didn’t look out of his depth

As in life young players learn best from making mistakes which is why its so difficult to bring young defenders through. If a young striker misses a chance its not catastrophic if a young midfielder miss-places a pass then so be it but if a young defender makes an error there is a good chance it results in a threat on goal.

KWP and Foyth have begun this process and lets hope it short and rewarding. I personally would like to see more defenders go out on loan and make the mistakes elsewhere but then it takes two to tango.

Looking at the way Poch is now treating Foyth hopefully KWP will be fully in plans going forward.

Relatively decent performance, needs to be braver going forward imo. A lot of the time he gets in a forward position and looks for a simple lay off. Would like to see him for a cross or take his man on more often. Maybe even... a shot?
