this is our litmus test afaic

This IS our litmus test; I never brought into that whole media dominated 'how Spurs do against United and Chelsea will show their credentials' BS:bs:

All teams, even United and Liverpool at the height of their pomp lose have the occasional bad run - it is the bouncing back that is important. And with it looking like the 'Big 4' plus ourselves, Citeh, Villa and Everton capable of taking points off one another, IMHO, it is really going to come down to how well they these 8 do against the rest - and so far our record is impeccable. And we have bounced back well enough so far. But we do have to accept that PNE in the CC and Burnley at home are of a different order to Bolton at the Reebok. This is a club we have a dreadful away record with, who have been picking up results of late.

Have we ever won on Reebok, apart from that CC game when Bunje scored a couple?

Wayne Rooney is right: nothing should come between a man and the birth of his child

Wayne Rooney is a new age man who should be applauded for putting the birth of his first child before football.
And the fact that the game he will miss is a trip to Moscow is probably just an added bonus!
Part of the reason Xabi Alonso and Rafa Benitez fell out was because Alonso wanted to be there for the birth of his child.
Different managers see it in different ways. But nothing should come before family as that is your priority.
After all, in any other walk of life you are given one or two weeks’ paternity leave.

Anyone feeling even a little more empathetic with Lawro ? All together now 'Awwww...'

No predictions by 16:15 on a Thursday. Tsk Tsk. Public sector for you

Reckon he'll back us to win 2-1 at Pompey (whilst citing possible lift from Grant's appointment etc. Hart perhaps under more pressure and all)

Yes, the bindipper was running late today.
Anyway, here it is:

Portsmouth v Tottenham
I hope Harry Redknapp gets the reception he deserves at Portsmouth - and that is an extremely good one because of what he did for that club.
He got them out of the Championship, brought in brilliant players (all of whom were sold for a profit) and won the FA Cup. He got out when he saw the writing on the wall and you can't blame him.
I just hope a few mindless idiots don't ruin the day. On the pitch, I reckon Pompey will pick up a point - and it'll be a great help for Paul Hart to have Avram Grant's experience with him from now on.
Verdict: 1-1

I hope he's wrong - again!

Well shave my moustache off with Hansen's wit

That was my first thought. But then I considered it would be 'just be too strong on the day' type remark. I haven't looked yet but I bet it's Chelsea 2-0 against Villa. He must have precited Chelsea 2-0 about 200 times over the years

It's 1-1 actually, but I agree with you.

I was suprised with the Sunderland-Liverpool 2-2 one.

Btw, Everton are top of the Lawro league and that's with a game in hand

Yep, although I know a few Liverpool fans that call them that, and given our recent history against them we could start calling them that too!

Hmm but we'd have to differentiate them from Woolwich.

Cheating Scum would be quite appropriate I think
