Was at the game and this was one of the best days of my life.

But it could have been so different if it weren´t for the linesman (couldn´t find out his name). Halsey the ref gave almost everything the way of Chelsea (including an astonishing 7 mins of injury time in extra time).

I´m sorry I tried to do a namecheck and every one of the 7 reports I´ve read doesn´t mention him by name.

Who was this man? I salute him!:)

Life is good sometimes.

no idea who he is. i did recognise him. he made a big big call and got it oh so right. fair play to him. had the guts to give something the ref hadn't spotted. imagine the outrage from us had he not done so.

Definitely. Here was a linesman actually doing what his new job title demands: assisting the referee.

He had a far better view, and got the decision absolutely right. Most linesmen would have taken the safe option and kept the flag down - especially in a final.

We're all quick to criticise officials (especially that **** Halsey) so we should applaud them for getting a big, vital and brave decision right. Well done anonymous lino.

Isn't Halsey a self-confessed gooner? Sure I read that somewhere.

According to Avram Grant the ref didn't see it so it shouldn't have been a penalty. What a cock.

I was amazed that we were awarded that penalty.....I was not even aware that anything had happened....and I was watching on a monster TV screen....! I was equally amazed that thr REf recognised that there was in fact a hand ball.....there goes his Babuska Christmas Card....but it was God's will (if youy still believe in God after the last few 'barren' years at WHL.
Although this Carling Cup Final will pale in significance after the 20 year domination of World Football that we are 'about' to enjoy (I can dream!) it is good to be back in the Silver Trophy TRADE....after so long!
So, Fair play to Mr Linesman and perhaps we are now being considered as a Top 4 or 5 team (despite our poor season this year !) COYS!

Linesmen-great............Ref-absolute shite. we were playing against 12 men.

Linesman
Ref - at least you blew the final whistle when chelsea were clean through... but they still hit the post  (or had the spurs defence stopped because the whistle had gone).

Great to see a ref blow up when he deems time to have run out... rather than waiting for it to go out of play. Shame the ref v man u didn't remember that's the rule... it's not Rugby is it!

Though watching the final I did occasionally think we were watching another sport... Drogba - you're a ballerina!
Haaaaaaaaaaa Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa (said in the simpsons annoying kid styleee)

Both linos were brilliant yesterday, got almost every single call right, marginal offsides were given the right way, and great call for the penalty, Bridge handballed it about 3 or 4 times.

I was watching at home on my projector and even at 92 inches it wasn't obvious at the time. Just watched the highlights and the lino took a little time to give it but respect to the fella he had the balls to make such a (correct) big decision.

The Linesmen (assistant refs) were spot on yesterday. Respect to two top officials

Halsey was a tool. Carvalho lashed out at Jenas but nothing. Gave them loads of time extra (probably to spite Gus who he spoke to about the watch signalling) and at one stage we couldn't buy a free kick but Chelsea were getting them everytime they dived!

the thing is with Halsey was he was bad to both teams. I could tell Chelsea fans would be just as angry with him - he kept giving nonsensical decisions either way. Being in the midst of Chelsea fans, they were as angry with him as we were

The linesman was praised over and over again by the swedish commentators & pundits during the game and after.

What they couldn't understand was all the o.t during extra time. 3 mins when playing 15 would be 9 min when playing 45......and this was in both halfs.....WTF!!!

This hardly counts as ITK but last night at the Bell & Hare I met a guy who said he was at the match but didn't support Spurs. When I asked how he got a ticket he said he was the son of the ref! Not sure if it was true but he said he - like his Dad - is a massive QPR fan and so hates Chelsea!

There was also a rumour that the lino was the same one that didn't see the Mendes 'goal' at OT but I think that was Rob Lewis.

Rob Lewis was the linesman that day, but not yesterday.
