Karius must be well chuffed - if he gets to leave it may well happen that the happy go lucky Liverpool scallies
will remove the fatwas and lift the death threats some of them were putting out since the CL disaster.

It's what i said in January. The Dippers identify their targets early and go out and get them. Thats 4 quality additions in the bag.

They seem to have overpaid on VVD and this goalkeeper but were they to win a trophy or two AND most importantly continuously qualify for the CL every year then those fees paid will pay off.

It's clear that they not here to make up the numbers. Will we ever get to a point where we've identified and signed all our targets early? Its giving the new players every opportunity to settle and hit the ground running.

Agree they are determined to give city and Utd a real challenge you can't blame or criticise what they are prepared to spend in order to be successful.
I don't doubt that our club identifys players early the frustration occurs with many fans over the dragged out sagas similar to the scenario we see with trying to bring in a championship player in grealish all because we are trying to drive the price down.
The problem is that after the last season finished there was ITK stating that there would be a big spend up etc, but instead of taking it at face value like I and many others did some fans are still expecting that to happen with a few coming in.
Realistically how many will come in 1/2 Maybe 3 probably won't see anything until the last week which is cutting it fine but we have to trust the club it what it does.

Agree with everything. We've always known that there is a stadium to pay off and dont expect to do Man City size deals... BUT i would like to see us doing what Liverpool have done over the last 3 Windows and what we did when we signed Alli..... Perhaps Lucas Moura is one of those.

I want to see quality additions which help us STAY in the champions league positions and not settling for 5th or 6th etc. More importantly we need to start winning trophies above all else. The Fa Cup was last won by is in 1991:unsure:. i too had expectations of big things in this window. I expect more of the same now.

Hendo is going to start - so that automatically lowers expectations...and Loveren is the best CB in the world....

Why is he going to start? Especially if he's not as good as other midfielders?

On Lovren vs Matip, I simply rate Matip higher but I know not everyone agrees with that. Klopp isn't an idiot though, he'll start his best (or most effective) 11.

Henderson is the captain - teams need players like Hendo on the pitch, imo and I'll be shocked if he is dropped by Klopp. Less to do with skills and more to do with leadership.

I was joking about Lovren...

When their accounts are published and it shows how much they are paying in agents fee's to get these deals done, you'll understand why we don't.

Maybe that's why your disappointment level is so high as you had expectations of big things which as yet have not materialised, like I said I never had high expectations of big things during the transfer window and still don't.
Sure we will do business as i trust the club to do that but it will likely be the championship player plus one more and that's us probably done, yes we all as fans, players, manager and chairman want to win trophies but will we, again probably unlikely for some time but cementing another top four spot is the summit of our ambition at this moment in time.

Klopp isn't an idiot though.

He might not be an idiot, but he was widely believed to have outsourced much of his intelligence to Željko Buvač, who walked out on the club in mysterious circumstances just before the CL semi-finals.

Since his sudden departure from Liverpool, for unexplained "personal reasons", it was claimed In Liverpool that ZB had settled his differences with the club. However, as I read it, although he's currently still listed as being an employee of LFC, he has yet to return to work.

I'd assume that there'll be a fair amount of concern amongst the more perceptive LFC supporters (i.e. not RAWK contributors) that his position's still not been explained or resolved, and we're now just a few weeks away from the start of the new season.

The Liverpool board should be applauded for backing their manager. I expect the title to be a 3 way fight between Pool City and United.

I think Keita will be a big player for them.

But when that turns into trophies, they will have justified the payments.
As it stands, they've unquestionably strengthened the spine of their team - a team which made it to the CL final.
We on the other hand continue to dither in the market.

A lot of people say that it's because our starting XI is close to perfection and it's difficult to drop someone, but if that was the case, why are we still suffering from the same shortcomings season on season???
As it stands, we are going to fall short while watching others improve (again).

"If" they turn it into trophies. They still have to overturn City who were miles ahead and have strengthened themselves. If they don't with this outlay what do you think happens to Klopp?

Look the way we do business is far from ideal, and I'd love us to buy all our players early, but that just isn't the way Levy works. You have to weigh up the pro's and the cons I suppose, and for me the Pro's still tip the balance. If we fail to bring in what we need I will be just as pissed off as everyone else, but we have been here many times before, and the fact is we are where we are. A very competitive side with a top of the tree stadium and training complex.

If this is the difference between signing a Mane or a Salah and GKN or an N'jie, maybe we should start.

Before everyone goes into meltdown, do you realize that our points tally last session vs Liverpool's is greater after they signed VVD than before? Despite him making them defensively stronger?

And despite us hardly using Alderweireld in the second half of the season, which should have made us defensively weaker?

They’ve done well in wrapping up their signings early but I wouldn’t say that any of them are top tier players that other big clubs are fighting over.

Will be interesting to see how they integrate these new players into the squad. I’ll wait before I pass judgement but I think in order to integrate these players they’ll need to cast aside players like Milner who made them tick last season.

Come on... Liverpool had flops like GKN an Njie that were even more expensive. They had miserable transfer windows and spent a lot of money on utter crap

Fabio Borini, Lazar Markovic, Iago Aspas , Rickie Lambert, Benteke, Grujic, Origi never really worked out for them

I mean they spent over 30m on Stuart Downing and Charlie f**in Adam and 40m on Andy Carroll not so long ago

Their transfer dealings were shit up until 2 seasons ago ... where they bought Mane (which we should have gone for - i agree) and took a punt on Salah that already failed at chavs.

We did briliant business: Lloris, Eriksen, Dele, Vertonghen, Toby, Tripps, Dier, Wanyama all for more than reasonable fees

Every team have their flops - but i think most teams would wish they had gone for some of our players at that fees
While Liverpool just throwing money at teams like Saints to get the player they want - which leads to even more inflated prices
