I'm in Vegas for a mates big birthday when we play Liverpool so I'm kinda hoping that the rumour I heard that our first match will be 2 weeks after the Liverpool game (which is Cardiff) is true so that I can be there & all my fellow piss heads can have a good drink coz it'll be a 3pm kick off.

It’s not any game. It’s the first. Barring test events. Result dependant, it’s the place to be that day. As I said to the wife, there will be other wedding anniversaries. There won’t be any more first games.

Didn’t quite catch her response.
Bet you caught the uppercut though...

Having read through this thread, I'm starting to wonder about a few things.

Firstly, if people are so concerned with their pre-match pints being OUTSIDE the stadium, just where is everyone planning on drinking? Sure, there are quite a lot of pubs in Tottenham, but bear in mind that the Bill Nicholson has been sold to developers, I believe the Pride of Tottenham has also closed down, and the pubs around the stadium like the No8 and the Bricklayers used to get absolutely rammed when there were only 36,000 of us, now we'll have an equivalent to the Hawthorns or Selhurst Park also joining the crowd - where is everyone going to go?

I think the only logical thing therefore is to have people drinking at the ground. People have a massive stigma about drinking in stadiums, and whilst I get a lot of that is down to pricing, I'm personally not that against the idea if it's done properly. Have had plenty of fun over the years having a sing-song on the concourses at away games, or during big home games and I sometimes had a quick drink before the game at WHL and Wembley if I got there early enough.

But why is the beer going to be warm?!?!?

The atmosphere pre-match in the concourse does not match up to a pub. A pub is the holy grail for men, and a place that men should worship, and women should avoid. Your other question about beer being warm in football grounds. It's a tradition, and especially at Spurs. The law says we have to stand in a very long line, be served by idiots who don't know how the till works, and then be given warm lager in a plastic bottle that requires a mortgage before it is eventually handed over. Now, I didn't make this rule, it's just what God insisted on !!

Why do Sky want to transmit it at 12.30 on Saturday? Surely such a prime fixture would generate the highest ratings at 4pm Sunday? The answer probably lies in the teams playing at 4pm the following day: Everton v Wham. Neither in CL.

Yep. They can't schedule it for Sunday because at least one of us or Liverpool will very likely be playing at 8pm on Tuesday in the Champions League (obviously rules out Monday too). They can't schedule it for 5.30pm on Saturday because BT have that slot. They can't schedule it for 7.45pm on Saturday because that's only meant to be used as a backup option this season. They can't schedule it for 3pm on Saturday because that's illegal. And they can't schedule it for Friday as it's too close to the internationals preceding out game. So the Saturday Lunchtime slot is the only one open to them.
