Allardyce was moaning the other day that there is nowhere for British managers to go.

7 of last 13 PL managerial appointments have been Brits aged 50-70. Moyes and Allardyce next. There's your barrier to young British coaches.
From Daniel Storey, F365.

Managers like Warnock, Pulis, Allardyce, Hodgson, probably others, but now Moyes. They are blocking the younger ones.

There are five British managers in the top six of the Championship. Three of them have never managed in the PL before.

I think they're both right. Most premier league teams won't appoint a manager from a lower league and will go for an experienced manager, so managers need to get their side promoted before they get that chance of getting a bigger job.

That's also true, which then makes the short-term solutions the club owners go for is the main problem. They want a manager who can come in and do the same thing he's always done to get enough points to stay up. No time for a project. Then being so quick to fire managers adds to the problem.

West Ham will probably go for Moyes and he can turn to ex Everton/Sunderland players in January :D

Coleman has left Wales and taken the Sunderland job. Seems like a mental thing to do. Sunderland are a big club, but they're a massive mess at the moment.

It's not surprising he's left Wales, he's done about all he could with them. But Sunderland? He needs his head checking.

Coleman & Wales were a perfect fit, and I remain sceptical about his club-management skills. Would be happy to be proved wrong, but Sunderland seems like a pretty grim job to take just now.

As for Silva, the obvious best career move for him is to stay right where he is and knuckle down. That said, people do dumb things when money and shiny baubles come calling.

I think it's actually a pretty low risk move for him; if he does well he can take the credit, if he does poorly then he won't take the blame.

I'm not sure about that. They're bottom of the league at the moment. He's going to be there over half a season so if they go down he'll still take a large part of the blame if they go down. It just seems like a strange job for him to take when Rangers and other clubs were interested.

They'll be a couple of PL teams looking for new managers soon too, strikes me that he just wanted out from the Welsh FA so he took this job on

Pulis axed!

It's been coming for a while, two wins in their last 20-something games and both of those came in August. Yet I always wondered if the WBA hierarchy would dare to pull the trigger and fire a man who would normally be the man you want to lead you out of a relegation battle.

People have said that about a fair few Sunderland managers recently. You have nothing to gain by taking on that basket case.

There's a hell of a lot of very average managers floating around from one job to the next. So good to have a stable manager right now.

So glad this happened after West Ham got shafted with Moyes.

Now they can witness WBA hire a capable manager who will actually get them out of trouble.
