Well... I guess u can call it a "Hail Mary" from the Saints. :ROFLMAO:

But if they survive the drop and West Ham goes down... I will be greatful.

He got sacked by a team below them in the table, sounds like a good idea to me :ROFLMAO:

I always believe in right person, right job. Sometimes some managers/players just don't work in a team.

It's very common for big managers like Jose and Pep to make big changes when they come in, it's harders for manager who are less known/respected to be given that much freedom and money.

Hopefully, whoever they get will get in the hot seat soon. And fingers crossed for one of those dead cat bounce.

So, Southampton don't score enough goals and are drawing too many games? So, they appoint a manager renown for his teams not scoring lots of goals and drawing too many games?

This is another panic appointment and if Saints go down they only have themselves to blame. They've completely abandoned their philosophy. Hope they go down now.

I wonder if Saints could have gotten someone like Ancelotti on a VERY expensive, but short-term deal until the end of the season?

Been appointed until end of season. Such an uninspiring choice. Have they learnt nothing from West Brom?

Bound to be something in the contract if he manages to keep them up...huge bonus or has a contract extension...I agree..sad choice for the fans.

I think they might stay up now. Hopefully they'll win their next match.

Trouble is there aren’t enough slots to send all these clubs down in one go.. so these turd managers just won’t flush.

Case in point Chunky Pards on meeting his bosses to talk about how shit he is: "I told them what I think perhaps needs to happen going forward. They listened and I'm still in a job," he said.

Sorry what? How dumb and unimaginative must the WBA board be if they’re not only not sacking Pardew but letting him tell them how it’s going to be..

Very unlike Saints to go for Hughes. They haven’t been afraid of innovating so to resort to him is a big surprise.

For a few years they were defying the odds by selling players and going through managers and it seemed to be working. Guess they went one manager too far and they’ve now shit the bed as a result and gone into full ‘Midlands yo-yo club in crisis’ mode

There's also a matter of a break clause in Pardew's contract that either party van activate in the summer. I'd guess that the WBA hierarchy has basically given up this season and will save their money for the summer rebuild instead.

Incredible how a handful of managers keep getting sacked in the Prem and walk into another job there, like some grotesque game of musical chairs. Would love to see some managers from the lower leagues get a chance, rather than the endless recycling of Hughes, Pardew, Pulis, Allardyce and probably some others I've forgotten.

At least Hughes is only hired until the end of the season. The trap most teams fall into is hiring these supposed relegation specialist managers beyond the end of their relegation fight, only to fall back into it sooner or later.

Agree. They fired Adkins, who had done a great job, and hired Pochettino.

Seemed an unnecessary risk at the time but worked really well.

Then Pochettino left and they hired Koeman. If I remember rightly he had just come out of a bad patch in Spain.

Again it worked out.

Last two appointments were also outside the box but haven’t worked out.

So now they are going with a manager who knows the Prem well. Can’t say I blame them but would have thought Silva would have been first choice.

Sacking Puel was a strange move. He got them to a League Cup final and finished 8th in his first season. Surely he deserved another season to improve them.

Hughes isn't a bad appointment as he knows the league and he knows the club from his time playing there, but it's such a boring choice.

Puel was an interesting one. One of my best mates is a Saints fan.

He compared Puel to AVB. While the results weren’t terrible, the football was and felt like things were wrong behind the scenes.

I guess you do need to take the fans feelings and the relationship with the board into account, but I got the impression that he was trying to build something there and that his second season would have seen a different style of play. I guess we'll never know now though.
