Gary Rowett swaps Derby for Stoke, and Arsenal-beating Östersunds boss Graham Potter overtakes de Boer as favourite for the Swansea job. Good one for the young British managers.

Rowett failed to turn around Derby's fortunes, or at least couldn't do much about their fast start/mid-late season slump that repeats every single season, but I think he's a talented manager and I'd back him to bring them back up unless things go horribly wrong in the transfer market.

I'd love to see Potter come in and do well, always refreshing to see odd career paths pay off in a good way.

Im torn on this. On one hand, your right they didnt give him time or his kind of players but one the other, he was an abject failure at both a big club and a small club outside of holland. Either way, i dont really like it for Swans. I want to see them come straight back up. Doubt de Boer would do that.

It’s ridiculous calling him an abject failure. Inter were in a mess, they’d just bought a load of new players, with no real planning, then hired DeBoar a week before the season started and gave him a handful of games.

Palace gave him 4 games. 4 games without Zaha. For all everyone is hailing Hodgson, he didn’t win a game all season without Zaha. Even Hodgson only won one of his next 5 or 6 league games.

If Palace had stuck with DB, there’s a good chance their season wouldn’t have been much different, except they might have actually changed the dynamics of the whole club from just another bus park and counter (and prey Zaha does something) Pullis/Allardyce/ anything above 18th is success model to a club with a bit more ambition.

I watched DB’s last game, away to Burnley, and they were actually trying to play decent football. Outplayed Burnley completely, missed some decent chances and got skanked. Without Zaha. It was probably as good a performance as any I saw under Hidgson.

I just don’t understand why a board would hire a manager, with a clear working methodology, and give him 4 games and panic and give up. It’s abject failure by the board, not the manager. Failure to either get the type of coach you actually want, or failure to stick by your judgement and failure to create the environment where you give that manager the best chance of succeeding.

Sarri has left Napoli.

Ancelotti is about to take that job.

Sarri has been heavily linked to Chelsea. Now just needs Conte to be fired....

TBH Derby are in trouble and he has left Derby worse than when he got there.

Mel Morris now realising he made a huge mistake sacking McLaren

All of a sudden, 12 months later, the young blood has gone replaced by old veterans who play the worst style of football seen at derby in over 7 seasons and fans are deciding not to show up anymore

Chairman has also said he's not spending much. So you have an old squad and not much investment, doesnt look good imo

Wonder if we'll look to take advantage of the change and bid for Diawara.

Frank Lampard confirmed as Derby boss. Will be interesting to follow.

But he's got "Pard" in his name so if he's anything like his almost namesake....

Glum, gloomy miserable bastard who'll be a total failure. Other than that, best of luck to him.

Conte still working for Chelsea ? Perhaps his sacking is being held up by Abramovich not being able to get into the country ?

Gone I would imagine.
And I suspect the next few weeks are going to be a bit of a ride. If true, a lot of transfers and unfilled manager vacancies will all freeze to see what happens. Thank god we got Poch tied down already.

imo that's a big risk to take appointing a manager with zero experience. I wonder what Derby's ambitions this year is...

I'm guessing Zidane is off. Had a good couple of season with Real. Maybe Chelsea next?

Maaaaaaybe but I doubt he goes from Madrid and 3 time CL winner to Chelsea merry go round EL borderline unless they are paying crazy money. I bet he is off and just takes a year off before deciding.

I've always pictured that Zidane takes on a job in the middle east and one day becomes the new manager for France or Juventus

Can see Zidane taking a lot more than just a year and basically waiting for either Juve or PSG to come calling. If he were to retire with 3 Champions Leagues in 3 seasons thats a hell of a legacy in management.

No way that he'll retire now. He's thriving to do more
