I was reading that statement from Rodgers and i always knew he arrogant but that really does take the piss. Particularly arrogant bits in bold.

twatface said:
I’ve seen some of what’s been said and read," he added. "Celtic supporters will hurt - I understand how they feel. They’re hurt and are maybe a bit worried.

"But what we’ve put in place in the last three years will stabilise the club moving forward.

"As hard as it was to make the decision, I knew that the improvements we made would allow the club's success to continue."

When you read that its like Celtic were in real trouble when they arrived, yet he stabilised them and set them up for the future. What a ****.

Seems odd to me how salty the Celtic fans are being towards Rodgers though.

They're all over twitter laughing at Leicester's defeat at the weekend.

They must surely know their league is a bit of a joke? I mean winning the domestic treble two years in a row and on course for a third seriously?

I guess they're annoyed by his timing (which was admittedly poor) but seems as if Leicester said to Rodgers it's now or never and they do have a promising squad for him to work with.

Since when do you expect fans to be rational?

I dunno, I don't think they're any different to all fans. Imagine Poch, pissing off to Madrid tomorrow. Think we'd be exactly the same.
If Lennon goes on and wins the treble, most of em' will end up appreciating what Rogers won with them.

I did think to myself when posting about how I'd feel if Poch left and would I react the same way.

If he went to Real Madrid, I don't think I'd react in the way Celtic fans have - I'd think he's a bit silly as to me they're a toxic club that you can't really build a lasting legacy at, but he does have roots in Spain so understandable and I'd begrudgingly wish him the best as it's a step up.

If he went Chelsea or Man U maybe I'd feel differently, but it's a different scenario as they're in same league and we've been competing with them strongly - we're not in a league like Celtic where we pretty much win everything no matter who our manager is or players are (which have mainly been purchased from lower leagues). And if we can maximise potential from new stadium and push on we have a chance of matching said teams in terms of being able to offer better money / wages for new players.

I know I'm being very dismissive and a little disrespectful of the Scottish league, as obviously it's the Celtic fan's passion like Spurs is ours, but it really has become a poor league of late since Rangers downfall (which they seem to be recovering from so maybe it will go back to being between two teams).

If I'd have been Rodgers I'd have been pretty bored at Celtic as the challenge would have gone (and they couldn't compete in Europe with the quality of players he had at his disposal).

I think the thing is, the Celtic fans see their club as the biggest in the world. As you say, like we all do about our clubs. But no matter how crap their league is, the thought he could want to leave them for another club (let alone a mid table English club) is difficult for them to take. Especially before the end of the season. And that I can understand tbh.

I think that's the thing. Like, I think they're aware of Celtic's and the Scottish League's stature to some degree. But with that as well (especially them being in Europe most years) it's him leaving for Leicester that get them. Like you can't ignore the whole miracle premier league season and whilst they've got a great youth team set up... they're still Leicester. If Brendan left to go back to Liverpool or to another top 6 club or to a European club that was challenging for some level of honours I don't think the fans would have had that bad a reaction. But to a lot of fans from the outside Leicester over Celtic? Seems like a weird choice. They think they're at least better than that.

I know Celtic fans and Scottish people in general won't like hearing this, but being the manager of an established PL club is a much bigger job than being Celtic manager nowadays. By a long way.

Me personally? I agree.
Still I don't blame them for thinking Celtic and the SPL is a bigger job and looking down on Leicester as a smaller club/job. Not to mention the idea of creating a dynasty in Celtic rather than fading into obscurity in the PL.

Ultimately if he succeeds at Leicester and genuinely makes them challenge for the European places then he'll have done well. If he's constantly just trying to get Leicester into the top half of the PL I don't think it would have been worth it.

Funnily enough he apparently took with him 14 of the staff at Celtic. That's putting something in place, is it?

What are you on about? The man transformed them into one of the top two clubs in Glasgow!
