The nicest man at Spurs. Who will be our nice man now?

Thank you, Michael Dawson. Live long and prosper at your new club.

Although limited in parts I am gutted to see Daws go, I know it may be for the best but he is spurs through and through and wore his heart on his sleeve everytime he pulled on the shirt. Good luck

Thanks for everything Daws. We'll miss you, mate. I'll always appreciate and have love for him. Was gutted when I read it. Sad that he's gone, but it had to happen. Good luck at Hull, Daws!

If you had to give your son an example of the kind of man you wanted him to become then Michael Dawson would be a great person to start with. Humble, loyal, maximising god given gifts and using his good fortune to try to make life better for others (charity work etc).

Proud to have had him at our club and always use him as an example to young people I coach as to what they should aspire to give to a sports team and society in general.

Never became a great player, but he was a very good player and one who was a part of some truly great times with us. I still remember him finally playing after being injured on arrival, and he was superb. It was exactly what we needed and spelled the end of Naybet.

It's the right time for us to part with him, and at his age he has a lot in the tank so should be superb for Hull. Him and Curtis Davies in front of McGregor is a good defence. With Livermore and Huddlestone in the middle and Jelavic up front too I really like their spine. I can see them having a good season.

Great guy and a credit to our club. Never the sharpest of brain or foot but always did his best and will be missed.

Michael Dawson, I salute you. Nearly a decade at this club you love, and we love you back. From those towering goals like the one against Chelsea, to all those uncountable tackles, blocks and headers, you put your heart and soul behind every single one of them. Alongside Ledley King you made one half of one of the most formidable defences in England. Player of the season in our CL qualifying year, and I believe kept the likes of Ibrahimovic and Eto'o under wraps in our subsequent CL campaign. To echo the words of Steve Perryman:
He's my kind of player, his commitment is outstanding and he's the sort of man that you'd want alongside you in the heat of battle.
From playing his way back into AVB's team and heart, all the way back to when I played football with his older brother Andy back in Northallerton all those years ago, he has proved himself a proper lad, a fearless defender, and a true Yorkshireman.

Good luck to you Mike, may our paths cross again soon.

Thanks for the service Daws, especially that beautiful, instrumental, delightful header against Chelsea.

Find it funny that there are various posters in this thread being all magnanimous about Dawson, whom I recall repeatedly giving him dogs abuse on here throughout the last couple of seasons.

It's like when someone dies and the people who repeatedly called them a **** behind their backs eulogise about what a great person they were.

Anyway, selling Dawson was the right decision as he isn't cut out for the way we play anyway and at 30 isn't going to develop. It should be pointed out though that rather than cost us every goal we conceded, he actually saved our arses on many occasions too.

I applaud him for his stance after AVB basically didn't have faith in him. Fighting for your place rather than sulking like a baby like many footballers is a quality which I wish the whole squad had.

Good luck Daws.

It's a shame, an inevitable shame that he's moved on. Dawson to me was an 'old school' footballer. Never in the press for the wrong reasons, kept his head down and worked hard. Even when AVB wrote him off, he fought for his place and despite his increasing lack of pace kept going for two more seasons in the heart of the defense.

The spurs game has now surpassed the performance Dawson can offer but he gave everything to the club for 9+ years. Not many footballers are cut from the same cloth as Michael Dawson these days.

Thank you Michael...hopefully you can get 3 more seasons of premiership football with Hull and then after that who knows, maybe come back and join Ledley as a coach/ambassador.

Top bloke and was a very good player for us for a number of years. Saw a picture of him during Martin Jols time with us and it did make me nostalgic. I wonder where the next Dawson type will come from in our current squad?
