If this genuinely hasn’t been agreed yet it would explain our lack of transfer activity because funding the stadium without a sponsor is a tall order. On the other hand silence could be because we’ve signed such a big deal we don’t want selling teams to know how much cash we have.

Hoping for the latter, fearing the former.

I have decided that since the club cannot be bothered to get a naming rights deal I am going to name the stadium myself. It shall be called Steven. Steven the Stadium.

Very interesting article on the BBC just two days ago regarding the struggle to find naming rights sponsor for West Ham's London Stadium
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44848750

I would like to think Spurs are a vastly more attractive proposition competing for sponsors than for West Ham's stadium, however the quotes in the article paint a very interesting picture regarding the sponsorship market...

"It's a tough sell. Unless they drop the price, if the situation remains as it is, it could remain unsold for years," he said.
"UK sports sponsorship is the softest it's been for a long time, mainly because of Brexit. Business hates uncertainty and if you're asking someone for a long-term sponsorship, it's no good.
"I'm not surprised at all they were unable to find a buyer. The focus should have been on getting sport and entertainment events all year round to make it much more attractive to a potential sponsor."

One doesn’t preclude the other. I expect the stadium to see plenty of use. Especially once th retraced links are sorted out.

West Ham’s situation is totally different than ours, they don’t actually own the stadium. It will still be known as the “London Stadium” for other events held in it that West Ham aren’t apart of. So any sponsorship of the stadium will only be used when West Ham play there as far as I am aware. They made an absolute mess of themselves moving to that stadium.

Surely with 3 weeks to go stadium sponsership has been sorted out and we’re just holding back naming them until completion?

It's the final paragraph that is the crux.
Athletics is virtually worthless along with the West Ham brand who have virtually no world wide presence.
They should be focussing on high profile concerts as that's the big money spinner.

Our place is probably worth 10 million a year just for us, but NFL and concerts would probably double it.

However, any marketing director will want to see the place actually built, the reaction to a NFL game, and a big concert before committing to a 10 year contract.

I'd be very surprised if we had naming rights secured for the opening. But as long as they are signed within a season they will still appear on the accounts so there is no rush.

Probably wrong, but could the club possibly be waiting for the naming rights sponsor to go public before announcing new players hmmm...

May as well close the thread now.if they’ve gone to the trouble of announcing a brand for the stadium name specific can’t see them announcing naming rights anytime soon.
