I somehow doubt very much doubt that Daniel Levy is having sleepless nights over this or transfer dealings, speepless nights are for wimps.
Presumably "unable to agree a figure" means they didn't offer enough doesn't it?

I think that’s macho bullshit, if you were not worried when deals of this magnitude fall through you’re probably just reckless.

Macho smacho, it's strictly business, worried maybe, frustrated and concerned possibly but not necessarily keeping him up nights.

Mate. I run a teeny-tiny business and sometimes the thought of not being able to pay all my overheads keeps my up at night. I can only imagine the pressure Levy feels at the moment.

On another note, I reckon the collapse of the HSBC deal could be the missing explanation to the abject summer window.

Whatever Levy said about the stadium not being reliant on naming rights was obviously total bollox to make it seem like he’s in a strong negotiating position.

Of course they desperately need a deal to take some of the strain off the loan repayments. And if it’s back to square one searching for it, then I think Levy will be battening down the hatches and cutting any uneccessary expenditure.

Or of course the story could be horse shit. But it does give us a reasonable explanation for the lack of movement so far.

I've just bought the rights to that name. If you try and use it again......:greedy::greedy::greedy:

Tottenham have suffered a major blow in their bid to finance their new stadium following the collapse of negotiations over a naming-rights deal, according to the Times.

The newspaper claim chairman Daniel Levy has been in talks with Mark Tucker, the chairman of HSBC, over a deal in which the bank would have become Spurs’ naming-rights partner at the 61,000-capacity arena that opens next month.
The Times report the two parties were “unable to agree a figure” despite previously securing a shirt sponsor deal when Tucker was chief executive at Asian insurance firm AIA in 2013.
OPINION
No two ways about it. The collapse of negotiations is a major blow to Spurs, who are footing a near-£1billion bill for the new stadium after costs spiralled this year. A multi-million pound naming-rights deals would have gone some way to meeting interest payments, but it is back to square one for Levy, the all-powerful chairman who will no doubt be having a few sleepless nights over the next month. Little wonder Spurs have not signed any new players, given the difficulty in securing what would be a gamechanger in terms of the club’s short and medium term finances. Levy appears to be doing two jobs at once – he remains the club’s chief transfer and contract negotiator despite reportedly offering to step aside in recent times – and the end result is that Tottenham are desperately trying to shave a few million off the prices of potential signings, most notably Jack Grealish, ahead of the transfer window cut-off next Thursday.

Just a thought. Earlier in the process, it was mooted that we could be looking for a multi-sponsorship deal and a stadium in the USA was given as an example of where this has happened, though I forget which one now.

We could have different sponsors for different parts of the ground or different entrances. This would give us a more fluid relationship with sponsors which whilst not giving us the security of a long-term single sponsor it could generate a higher income whilst at the same time letting us keep the brand 'Tottenham Hotspur Stadium'. This would go some way to explaining why the club has been pushing the new stadium branding which would be detrimental to a naming rights sponsor.

I get the impression that NFL games are an excuse for fans to eat and drink as much as they can.
It's an all day marathon with barbecues in the car park before the gates even open.

To own a food/drink franchise at one of these games is a license to print money, and so they'll pay a fortune for that right. As part of the deal, they get to brand one of the entrances.
Fans have a different approach here - get to the game as late as possible, and leave straight away - early if anything, and break up the journey there or back with food/drink.

Maybe that will change. If in the future we could go to one of the brewers and declare we get through 1/2m pints of lager every home game - at marked up prices - are you uninterested in an exclusive franchise, then I think they'd be a lot of interest. If they got £2 profit on each pint, that is £30m profit a season - they could throw us £5m p/a to put their name over the south stand surely?

Had a dream last night our stadium was called The McDonald's Stadium. I hope this doesn't come true.

Don't let it get to you. I heard someone the office talking about the drought this summer and my first thought was Spurs transfer dealings rather than the weather.
