"The name White Hart Lane will be eradicated completely from the area".

Err, the road will still be there and still called White Hart Lane (although I assume the White Hart is long gone?). The article also seems to reference WHL as the name of the district/area. That would in fact be Northumberland Park, no?

IIRC, The Grauniad have been consistently downbeat about our new ground. I imagine it's to do with their opposition to the Haringey Development Vehicle even though that's now off the table.

The ground was named after the White Hart pub, so was the road and station.
Calling the station Tottenham Hotspur is fine by me.

There will be a bar within the ground called the White Hart.

Arsenal station used to be called Gillespie Road.

Was renamed over 50 years ago though i.e. back when people had bigger things to worry about than getting their nickers in a twist over the name of a bloody train station.

Oh, I agree. My post was more a response to that Gruniad article. He clearly doesn't know his history.

It does make me laugh when they say it will cost us blah blah to change all the underground maps. They're changed and updated every few months anyway.

Also need changing soon for the Queen Elizabeth line which will go through certain underground station routes as well

Exactly. I could understand it if they wouldn't do a special new round of maps just for this one change, but surely if they just make the change next time they're updating the maps anyway it won't cost them any extra at all.

But wasn’t the whole reason it got changed was because the Arse got their knickers in a twist and wanted it renamed? :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

And the Arsenal chairman was an old school friend of the chairman of London Transport.

got to say not announcing a main sponsor prior to completion is looking quite a good move.

if it was announced a few years back, I get that it would have covered the build cost but sponsorship has moved on a bit from them. I also understand why nobody wants their name attached when the delays and issues were happening - accepting we may have lost some dosh/paid interest along the way.

now it seems open, not one news outlet has had a bad thing to say and many have said it's the best experience or stadium they've ever seen. To be associated with the connotations of "fan centric" and "good day out" rather than just our club is looking a smart move. We might have to have an NFL game or a gig to confirm the real intangible value of the stadium - but I hope all the little extras mean we get a great deal.

Had lunch today with a family member. He is well positioned to get info and see no reason why he should lie to me. But still pinch of salt and all that. But he seems convinced deal is done will be announced in summer and it’s an Asian financial institution. And the numbers are staggering.
