Half our team were in the England game that won a penalty shoot out for once.

Against Croatia Kane was playing more of a midfield player due to the lack of quality England have there. Against Man U and Juve Kane was not 100% after his injury and wasn't at his best IMO and we struggled at times in those games due to that ( and didn't take our chances to put the game to bed also)

Yes we need to improve, but so does every club really. Real won the CL but got one draw and a loss to us and didn't win their league.

Kane wasn't injured prior to Juventus game, as I say I agree there's a select few teams that get past this level but I couldn't give a dam about those teams I want spurs to find a solution in breaking into that elite. I doubt I'm the only one who's tired of thinking, ah we were the better team though and being on the end of a defeat in a cup competition, hell dele himself said that we can't keep doing this. That's why for me, I'm not going to get ahead of myself until we get one of those big games in a cup competition and we find a solution to that consistent losing pattern.

The cynical side of me says we needed to sign 2 players, 1 quality midfielder who can help us control a game and another winger who could provide something different whilst also meaning our bench quality would improve if we needed to change the game. The optimistic side of me says Dembele coming off bench yesterday could be a great sign for how we can close down games going forward whilst Lamela being fit and either Son/Moura off the bench provides something different off the bench along with our players being old and having 9 players with the experience of reaching the world cup semi finals provides the mental fortitude to produce a solution to this particular problem.

Yeah same, this season has zero expectations for me considering the crazy disruption with the stadium, the World Cup effect and the transfer window.

I’m just going to go along with whatever happens and make sure I’m not too disappointed, just see how each game goes and where we end up is what it is.

The game lost last year at Old Trafford was marginal if my memory serves me correctly. We weren't outplayed and it may have been a goal against the run of play/momentary lapse in concentration.

I actually think if we use the personal from yesterday we will be fine. No better than fine im going for a win.

might of not been outplayed but they had the better chances and bar the Alli miss we didn't really cause de Gea many probs. the most important thing is to not lose, always a good thing to come away from OT with a point, but play like we did in the semi's without the errors and a win is a possibility.

Okay my memory is a bit fuzzy on that game. Seemed to remember we were not too troubled. I may see a repeat of that game in the coming days. Anyhow just watched the Brighton game hoping they will still be a shambles, then again such a result will happen just before we play them.

Newcastle A
Fulham Wembley
UTD A
Watford A
Pool H

I have to admit that I am very concerned with our start with the potential fallout from the shambles of the transfer window. Kane is a slow starter, Son will be missing, we have a number of injuries and players late back from the W/C.

Apart from our win last year Newcastle away has always been tough.

Fulham, back in the PL at Wembley.

Poch hasn’t fared well at OT and UTD still have big time players.

Watford our players could be under pressure if we’ve dropped points in the previous games.

Pool in the new place could be a baptism of fire.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we only got 2-5 points. Am I just being overly pessimistic?
Are minds changed now? We are all wrong all of the time, not a personal dig I think your initial worries were well founded, but can we be optimistic now?

Possibly ?

Glad my initial feelings were unfounded, onwards and upwards. Watford will still be a tough game, but it would be nice to face pool having won or first 4 games.

3rd, 2nd 3rd(No home games) + Don't sell anyone = mid table pish.

Thankfully this is unsurprisingly not sure. But Jesus, some people need to grow a pair and stop listening to the gutter press...

We've not even played that well yet and still winning pretty comfortably.

Fantastic start but we're 3 games in. We should enjoy it and not make assumptions either way.

So I changed the title of the thread.

Next up in the PL:

Brighton (A)
Huddersfield (A)
Cardiff (H)
Spammers (A)
City (H)

Despite an absolute shambles the last 2 games, I think we can and should go on and win the next 4. If we lose any we can forget about a title challenge. I’m going to flip on my previous pessimism and say we’ll get 13 points

Could see 7, we're not getting anything at City and West Ham raise their game against us.
Cardiff is a must win, one of the other can get a draw out of us

7 or 8

Brighton away will be tough. Should win against Huddersfield and Cardiff but as people say West ham always raise their game and unless we improve City is a write-off. 7or8 on current form I'd say.

We need to start by getting the elephant out of the room and that is there is no title challenge to be had, but yes hopefully pick up maximum points against Huddersfield and Cardiff at home the rest will be a struggle imo.
